Maybe he likes where he's at. Some folks do. (Not everyone thinks bigger is better is bigger is better is bigger is better).

His wife is a partner of a Big 4 firm, he doesn't write the checks in that household.

ah...with his wife doing extremely well in Spartanburg unless a big time program comes calling doesn't make sense to leave, still, he is really underpaid, Wofford is a very rich school, they have plenty of money in the coffers to pay him a competitive salary, kinda get the feeling that the administration knows, unless a big time school comes calling with a million dollar offer, he isn't going anywhere, so maybe they are taking advantage of the situation.

I think he was a good hire for GS, Charlie needed a fresh start, and GS needed a quality AD. I think this is one of those times where everything works out well for all the parties involved.

Charlie did run out of ideas after four years, but the reason is because the NC's stopped after 2007. The only thing Charlie actually did after taking the job in July 2005 was to bring App - budget wise - up to where we should have been all along. Anyone following Laney would have looked like a genius. Chancellor Peacock gave him the dollars to increase budgets so our teams could afford better equipment and uniforms, stay in nice hotels, eat good meals and more money to recruit. A lot of people give Cobb credit for changing KO times to 3:30 and putting an emphasis on tailgating. Those ideas actually came from from meeting with alumni groups around the state. I suppose at least he should be given credit for listening to them. ESPN had as much, if not more, to do with the later KO times. Starting games at 3:30 made our games available for ESPN's second TV slot. As far as the increase in fundraising goes Cobb & Beasley had little impact. Yosef Club levels increased a bit after the first year, saw a nice jump after the second NC, but exploded after the Michigan win and 3rd NC. If anyone should be credited with the increase in Yosef and those new facilities it is Armanti Edwards and those other players. In essence they wrote the checks. All Cobb & Beasley did was cash them.

I'll give Charlie credit for one thing. Overspending on athletic facilities and putting App in a bad financial hole. App could have gotten much more and spent far less had Charlie backed off and come up with a plan instead of being reactive. We will have to tear down much of what was built in order to improve on what we have now.

What about the great Capel hire? You should give him credit for that also. As a result of the Capel hire, we are currently penalized for APR issues, so you can give him credit for that, too.

I've tried to erase that entire 5 years of Mountaineer Basketball from my memory. There was enough deceit and backstabbing going on behind the scenes during the whole Fancher, Buzz, Matt and Capel thing it would make some corporate world dealings look like kindergarten. People ask me why I am so anti-Cobb, but in order to protect some who are still at App I really can't say. Just know the stuff TDog posted is just the tip of the iceberg.
