Worst home attendance average in 10 years...maybe worst in 15 years
The home schedule for the 2014-15 season is over (unless there are some NIT games that will be played in FedExForum after the conference tournament concludes). Home attendance for 2014-15 dropped 2,206 (-13.7%) per game compared to last season. The tickets sold average of 13,915 is the worst for the program in at least 10 seasons (there was no tickets sold average for the 2004-05 season). It is possibly the worst tickets sold average for Memphis Tigers men's basketball home games since the Johnny Jones season of 1999-00 (15 years ago).

University of Memphis Men's Basketball Attendance, 1991-92 to 2014-15
Season (home record): attendance (+/- compared to previous season)
FINCH
1991-92* (12-4): 16,142 (+5,207)

1993-94* (10-6): 11,205 (-3,902)
1994-95* (17-0): 9,765 (-1,440)
1995-96 (16-1): 14,235 (+4,470)
1996-97 (11-4): 11,980 (-2,255)
PRICE
1997-98 (11-4): 13,427 (+1,447)
1998-99 (11-5): 13,913 (+486)
JONES
1999-00 (11-6): 11,974 (-1,939)
CALIPARI
2000-01 (12-5): 17,110 (+5,136)
2001-02 (19-2): 16,654 (-456) [University incorrectly lists home attendance average for that year as 16,225]
2002-03 (14-2): 16,643 (-11)
2003-04 (15-0): 15,900 (-743) [University incorrectly lists home attendance average for that year as 15,432]
2004-05** (16-7): 9,587 (-6,313) [University incorrectly lists home attendance average for that year as 10,552]
2005-06 (19-1): 14,866 (+5,279)
2006-07 (19-0): 14,527 (-339)
2007-08 (20-1): 16,748 (+2,221)
2008-09 (19-1): 16,933 (+185)
PASTNER
2009-10 (17-3): 16,498 (-435)
2010-11 (17-2): 16,768 (+270)
2011-12 (18-2): 16,234 (-534)
2012-13 (17-1): 16,336 (+102)
2013-14 (15-3): 16,121 (-215)
2014-15 (12-6): 13,915 (-2,206)

*From the 1991-92 season to the 1994-95 season, figures reflected actual attendance. Beginning in 1995-96, "tickets sold" became the reported number.
**The 2004-05 season was the first for Memphis at FedExForum. Figures reported from that season were an estimate of those that actually attended each game. Beginning in 2005-06, "tickets sold" again became the reported number.

You're right and if Josh returns those numbers dive to record lows.

Unless they roll out to a 8-1 to 10-1 start. Even then it'll take 5-6 games to build momentum and it will be tough to get the average up.....

Not if those 10 wins are against usc upstate type teams.

Pastner has lost the fan base and it won't be back until he can beat the best teams on a consistent basis.

In other words. They ain't coming back mane.

I'M ALREADY OUT... I go to games for entertainment value and I went to one game after paying $1K per seat donation not to mention season tickets...

I left the one game I went to feeling frustrated and like CJP was getting $2.65 to provide garbage entertainment with no plan....

I've already called to give my tickets away...They're in section C3...go for it!

Good NIGHT...GOD SPEED.

If Josh is dismissed at the end of this year, next year attendance will be up big time and excitement returns.
No question.

not even lukewarm RT @WesIeyRose: do you think Josh Pastner is on the hot seat at Memphis?

Ehh I dunno. I think a lot of folks are so down that even if a new hire happens, it may take a year to reel those people back in enough to purchase tickets again. They'll choose to watch from afar for a year

I would respectfully disagree. You pick up Greg Marshall or Pearl or someone on that level and people will come out in full force.

I would agree about Pearl and probably Marshall, as well. How about Archie Miller - he's one of the up and coming good young coaches who is winning at Dayton.

Here's the thing: I don't care what anyone says, those attendance #'s are AWESOME. Anyone who says that this isn't a top-15 program is crazy. There are very, very, very few programs that can consistently put up the #'s that you see in this post. Kentucky, North Carolina, Syracuse, Indiana, Ohio State, Kansas....that's pretty much it.

Throw in great facilities and a great hometown recruiting advantage and there is NO way that this isn't a top-15 job.
