Yes it was bad. No dout! But... I've seen Shaq & the team as a whole play very good defence. Yet no consistently. Shaq has defended well on similar or exact plays before but tonight he just stood & watched them cost to the rim or cut backdoor. That's 100% on Shaq. Same goes for team defence too.

That's not on Coach. That's a player not doing the job we've all seen them/him do before with being in correct postion at the right time.
Coaching defence is important, don't get me wrong, but I would be fairly certine that the staff isn't just so clueless they don't know how to instill a defence. Yea, knowing where to be is important but with what I mentioned of the staff, my opinion is that most of defence is simply made by pure effort. As evident tonight.

Defense is about team, not about an individual. We rarely cover the back side and rarely cover the 2nd cuter....

I heard the Coach say on the post game show "you better get us this year!" .

The last time I heard that come from a coach it was Tommy West .

The guy making $10/hour who could lose his job is on a hot seat. In the worst case, JP being forced to take a buy out of several million is not being on a hot seat. Where is there any pressure in that?

Get real.

Jed Clampett: Boy, I'm gonna give you 24 hours to clean up all this mess.
Josh Pastner: Aw come on, Uncle Jed. I'm gonna clean up. I'm gonna set this world on fire!
Jed Clampett: You're gonna clean up alright. Everything. Or you're gonna end up with the seat of your britches on fire.

I'm not sure you understand what hot seat means then. If he were forced to take a buyout of millions, that means he was on the hot seat, and now he's forced to leave. And btw, Davis and Gotlube love to troll memphis fans

I understand the term and laugh at it. Not sure I would be feeling pressure if I knew the worst thing that could happen in my job was to be paid several million dollars to leave. Or if I stay, I get several million dollars. Not much pressure there. Ego/pride hurt, but not pressure.

That's your interpretation of it then. But a hot seat means you're in danger of possibly losing your job.

Right.

So who has more pressure. Someone who has been paid over 10 million dollars and stands to be paid several million more if he is fired. Or a guy living paycheck to paycheck?

Pastner isn't going anywhere unless he leaves on his own. I am not being a Pastner homer because I said this.

I just say this - I would gladly change places with JP right now. Worst case, I take my Million$, go live in the Caribbean, and play A LOT if golf.

Do we have to get personal about it? The team has some real problems but damn can we not discuss the real issues with out torching the guy. I am positive he does not like losing and I am sure he is tired of us slamming him. I would like to know how the hell some of these players make the same mistakes over and over when there is no doubt they have be called out by the coach ,fans ,and other players? It just seems to me alot of these things could be corrected if some of the players stopped putting themselves ahead of the team. Just saying seems like these guys are better than they play.

So, in essence it is Pastner's job to tell them what to do and their job to do it?

JP doesn't embarrass the university.

He just isn't a good enough basketball coach to be coaching a program like Memphis. Maybe he will be down the road, but right now he is not.

^^^ Yup

I would agree with midtowncowboy for the most part.

Josh's state of mind reminds me of the guy on "sister wives" a little. He's the guy married to about 5 or 6 chicks and they all live in the same house. Both intelligent and both think what they are doing is just fine, normal and par for the course. There is a certain part of reality that is simply missing.
