It's amazing the way this team came out like gang busters at the beginning of the year. After that pre season tournament, I thought they looked like a top ten team.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if they lose their first game in the CUSA tournament. They have no energy. I can't help but think that Floyd does something in practice that is ruining their energy and motivation. It's like watching the Walking Dead at the beginning of every game.

I thing it's exactly what you said. Energy. UAB played a very similar style last year. Scoring was always a grind and we relied on beating teams with literal body blows. It takes a toll on a team come March. UAB still sort of plays that way this year but the big difference is we have depth to make up for it.

I think Floyd would win a lot of games at USM. Doc Sadler seems like he might actually pan out pretty well, though. You can tell he communicates well with the players.

His contract may run thru 2018 but there are lots of schools around who can buy it out.

The thing about Floyd is that UTEP could do a lot worse, but it could also be better. All I know is that UTEP deserves a team that can make the NCAA tournament. This team is capable of winning the CUSA tournament so I'll be in a wait and see mode.
