that's sweet...

did not know that about the grad rate....impressive....

ethics....it matters.....

out of all the bowl games I attended, the MT fans 'represented' in my top 5 'level of respect'

"humility and respect until challenged" - me

If MT fails to use the Benny Cunningham/Rams Video for Recruiting they are IDIOTS! He is the classiest former MT athlete to ever play professional sports in my memory and I've been watching MT folks at the pro level (just not enough of them) for more than 50 years!

Benny is a remarkable man. He is constantly an extremely positive rep for MT. This is huge for the Raiders, REALLY hope this is put as #1 in the recruiting archive.

I don't think so. That was a Talk Radio guy. I doubt he paid much attention. We had some highly ranked teams but I don't think we played for championships.

What he was referring to is there were a number times we had to play Southern in the playoffs. A couple of times IIRC we were #1 and/or undefeated at the end of the regular season and Southern upset us so I guess he was make a loose correlation.

That is excellent. Probably the best piece of free advertisement/publicity I've ever seen.

I don't even remember Middle being undefeated at the 1AA level.

Middle Tennesssee finished the 1985 regular season undefeated, no. 1 in the NCAA 1aa poll and lost to Ga Southern in the first round after MT had beaten them in the regular season at Statesboro handily. 1990, MT finished the regular season #1 in the NCAA 1aa poll and lost on the road in the second round at Boise state.

I still never understood all those years when we had to go on the road for the playoffs when we were #1 or top five.

Going to Boise isn't easy. Then or now. Especially in December.

How can you be #1 and undefeated... then go on the road for post-season? That's just stupid.

Let me clarify, MT was #1, undefeated in the regular season in 1985, hosted Ga Southern (who the Raiders had stomped in Stateboro, GA earlier in the season) in first round and lost.

1990. MT was #1 at the end of the regular season with one three point loss at EKU in Richmond, back when the colonels were still somewhat relevant in 1aa. MT hosted and won a first round game, but was outbid for the ability to host the second round game and got sent out to Boise Idaho where Boise basically secured the win with a fake punt.

Apparently, we had no muscle with the NCAA on selecting game sites for the playoffs and I am told by a former player who was on the 1990 team that "The Game was the COLDER than a Witch's T@#$%!

NCAA let the schools bid on hosting with no consideration for seeding. As far as the weather was concerned, I can confirm it was cold - I had about 8 layers of clothing on and was still cold.

That's so stupid, "bidding" for playoff games. That sounds almost illegal lol.

Absolutely nothing stupid about how the NCAA used to handle the 1-AA playoffs. What is stupid is how the natty is played in Frisco now.

Of course a Marshall fan would say that. 05-stirthepot

At least the natl champ has been really well attended in Frisco. People have the image of high school crowds for 1-AA, but it's not true.
