CAA attendance champs.
This is why the CAA needs UNCW leading the pack. Futility since 2008, and we're already packing the house again. We were second in the CAA last year with an average of 3298 and were terrible. Up about 700 per game isn't bad.
Home attendance:
UNCW - 3955
JMU - 3262
CoC - 2744
W&M - 2729
Del - 2264
Towson - 1952
Hofstra - 1896
Drexel - 1360
Elon - 1309
NU - 1254
Pitiful that Northeasten is at the top of the Conference and can't muster 1,500 average. Overall, our northern partners suck.
UNCW almost averages the bottom 3 combined.

Have we put the "Toughest place to play in the CAA" banner back up yet?

Wow, for comparisons sake, UNCW averaged 5719 for conference home games in 2005-2006 which topped VCU and was second only to ODU.
We still topped 5200 in the 2006-2007 season when we won only 4 conference games.
Still have a long way to go to get back to those numbers. Impressive what we can get to though.

Elon seating 1300 is the equivalent of the amplifier in Spinal Tap going "Up to 11".

When you factor in some crummy Dec weeknight games, you must have 11,000-12,000 on some of the games to get numbers like that as an average. Unless they report a little differently. Totally shocked at that Dayton number. Sometimes I don't think the CAA counts student tickets.

Yeah, it would be nice if there were a standard that every NCAA school used for comparison sake. There very well may be, I just don't know though.

I'm not always sure they do either. Our last game had a listed attendance of 3,200, but it looked at least as, if not more, full than it did for our 4k attendance game against Delaware. There was supposed to be some bad snow, so classes were cancelled, and the students showed up big time, while traveling fans were kept away.

They are all drawing less now than when they were in America East.

If you use activity on these boards as a proxy for interest in the various CAA programs, it's pretty striking. It is possible that the poor attendance at, say NU, is simply because people there just don't care.

No doubt about it. But, how does a conference rise when the students and fans don't care? The ONLY thing that drives the success is the fans of UNCW basketball and sports overall. CoC was in last place, and was at the top of the conference in attendance. They care. And because of that I have no doubt CoC will rise to the top of the CAA in no time. It's another reason i'd love to see both schools move to the A10 as a package deal.

Be careful using that metric though, several people on this board have been known to post pad.

I'm just saying that there is very little - if any - activity on some schools' boards. Not so much frequency of posting....just that some seem to have no one to speak of posting.

Could you imagine what attendance would be in this years' championship game would look like if, say, Hofstra ended up playing Northeastern?

Maybe the CAA assumes the southern fans will show up anyways so they need to cater to the America Easters.

Winning changes everything, I could see a Greensboro CAA tournament site when we start to dominate over the next few years .
