Obama to ban bullets by executive action
Here we go, with nothing to lose Obama is going all in on his liberal agenda.
Quote:It’s starting.
As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is proposing to put the ban on 5.56 mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company Cabela’s, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.

RE: Obama to ban bullets by executive action
Id love to know how many officers have been killed by 5.56mm ammo. I bet it's less .001% of all officer shot.
Next up to be banned will be 7.62 followed by .22 long.

I was thinking the same thing. Isn't the BATFE part of the Justice Dept which is part of the Executive branch of the federal government? Who's in charge of the executive branch?

Question,....how will the "ban" affect the Dept. Homeland Sec, and the IRS? I mean where and how these agencies acquire the ammunition? I mean they've been stockpiling it for some time now!

And why ban 5.56? Why not .223 as well? Why not 7.62? 30.06? Such **** and so arbitrary.

Yep.
So is the reasoning.
They want to ban the M855 ammo because they say it is "armor piercing" when their own military doesn't classify it as such, primarily because it isn't. The 5.56 armor piercing round used by the military is the M995. Even more hilarious is the fact that the M885 round has been criticized for years by the military because of the lack of stopping power it has, especially from firearms with shorter barrels......you know like pistols, which is the foundation of the standard they are trying to use for this ban.
This doesn't even cover how anybody who knows anything about firearms and bullet performance would much rather get shot with a M855 round than just about any of the civilian hunting rounds out for the 5.56 these days because the civilian rounds are designed to expand and do tons more soft tissue damage than the FMJ military rounds that are bound by international conventions.

RE: Obama to ban bullets by executive action
Is the 556 the most popular or cheapest? I have no idea but that might deter more ar15 purchases. I'm sure there's an agenda behind this.

Not when you know the context...but you don't know context from the title. That's what Drudge is famous for...that's all I was saying.
A reputable sources title would say something like: "The ATF is proposing to ban 5.56 mm bullets"

It's the most popular AR caliber, but you can get an AR platform in numerous calibers now.

There are differences and the two round aren't always interchangeable, but they are essentially the same. My guess is they feel its easy to go after the 5.56 since they can claim its armor piercing even as others have pointed out it isn't. They are claiming since it can be fired from semi-auto pistols that it is now a threat to officers and no longer used just for sporting. Following their line of reason, once 5.56 green tips are removed for this reason, any round which can be fired from a semi-auto pistol could be subject to removal for the same reason. Look two or three steps down the road and it could mean many different rounds could be banned using the same flawed reasoning.

And you're expecting reputable from the WWE board? Why don't you yourself be reputable and address the issue instead of prancing around the 'title'.

Republicrats are scared of their own shadow. They won't oppose anything Obama wants for fear of being called racists.
