Meh.

I'd drive past Dreamland to get to Jim 'n Nick's, Full Moon, or Rib It Up.

Obviously very subjective. I've tried Jim and Nicks and Dreamland is much better in my opinion.

I promise, if my daughter will ever lie down for her nap today, I will update the BlazerTalk Guide to B'ham with the best new restaurants, entertainment/shopping... with pics & blocks/mileage from Legacy Arena.

They are not even the best on the south side much less the city, state, country, or world.

Agree with smaug. Then again I like Milos too.... ha ha

Dreamland sucks. When I go to Birmingham, I can think of at least four barbecue restaurants I would go to before Dreamland.

It's a tuscaloosa based restaurant and has been over hyped by SEC football announcers.

Promise me any visiting fans chant this during opponent free throws.

As an FYI, UAB's bands will play during games of teams that don't bring a pep band.

That is usually about half of them. They're going to get tired.

For us out-of-towners, could anyone give a big rundown on things to do in Birmingham (Restaurants, sights, etc). Looking forward to a weekend of good basketball!

A good guide of Birmingham from the visitors & convention bureau:
http://birminghamal.org/INguide/

My wife loves basketball & will gladly attend the tournament with me. But if your wife is anything like mine, she'll want to balance out the trip with shopping.
I'd recommend exploring downtown Homewood if you want more of a local flavor (several unique shops, galleries, & restaurants). The Summit is the most popular shopping area, with a lot of national retailers like Saks 5th Ave, Williams-Sonoma, Orvis, Restoration Hardware & a variety of restaurants.

Downtown Homewood:

The Summit:

If you really want to go upscale, visit the different shopping villages of Mountain Brook. You'll need your GPS for this one, even though you're only a couple miles from downtown. The Birmingham Zoo, B'ham Botanical Gardens, the Country Club of B'ham, and hundreds of beautiful old homes connect Crestine, English, and Mountain Brook Villages.

I love that dreamland but i get chicken instead of ribs. If i want ribs i venture to Jim and Nicks.

Im planning on a friday afternoon round either at the short course or the Ridge at oxmoor.

They split the band in half for men's games, thirds for women's games.
