Do the fan police get lights and sirens and stuff? I might wanna become one, too. You two or three usual suspect dudes can be the bad cops, and I'll be the good cop. I'll be the one letting the grown men and women fans support their team any way they happen to feel like doing.
Go, Austin! Go Tigers!

I feel bad for him too, but because of the fact that we have loser fans that think that Memphis basketball this year is a "losing effort." At the first sign of not being a tournament team; we have loser fans that label it as a loser and abandon it.
It has to be tough on a player when the team is still not officially eliminated from the tournament that it has played in for the last 4 years, and our loser fans are already giving up on it.
No offense.
We don't give up on the team. We give up on the coach. Our way of showing that is not going. If we still go, it looks good on the coach. We don't want that. Next question.

Actually, it makes our fans look like losers. Most of them don't, but a lot of them do. There are a lot of people that showed up for the free tickets against UConn, and that was during some awful weather you guys were having. If people gave up the tickets in the lower bowl they aren't using, there are a lot of people that would be grateful to have them.
Austin Nichols is a Memphian who saw the packed houses with his own two eyes since he was in elementary school. The team was ranked the entire regular season last year and less than 5 games into this season, there are a lot of empty seats. That makes the fans look like losers.
Well, you aren't going to be there either, so by definition aren't you going to also be one of those 'loser fans' to which you refer?
Did you just infer that every out of town Tigers fan is a loser? What an imbecile.

I guess it gets down to what is more important....supporting the team or your personal agenda. I don't support how Obama is trying to run the country but that would not stop me from volunteering for the US ARMY (which I did by the way). I doubt you not showing up for two games is going to cause Tom Bowen to make a change. And to address a previous post 17-10 is NOT a losing season. In fact, if that was put in football terms, that would be a 7-4 season record and had we had gone 7-4 last football season, everyone would be nervous about losing Fuente and praying that he and his staff all got raises.

When you have a personal agenda that you feel is more important than supporting the players....especially one like Nichols....who are actually ASKING for your support then....come to your own conclusions. Truth of the matter.....Tom Bowen is going to make the decision, so a complainer would be much more effective talking to Bowen and going to the games instead of not going to the games and complaining on a message board.

RE: Austin Nichols Wants a Crowd for SMU and TULSA Games
I don't think fans are staying away because of any boycott, because they hate the coach, or because they are losers--all used in this thread to describe them.
No doubt some are but I think the majority don't turn out simply because the basketball has been bad for much of the season, and they don't want to see that. No need to insult them.
Considering our opponent--and the way we played last game--I suspect a pretty good crowd will show up tomorrow.

No...fans who live in the city, already bought season tickets, and opt to sit at home on gameday because they want the coach fired are the losers.
If you want the coach fired, then write letters, post on media pages, email Bowen every day, call into local radio, or attend the coach's radio show with signs and spaceman outfits if you want, BUT GO TO THE GAME AND CHEER FOR YOUR TEAM!

Do you feel the same way when you go to the movie theater and it is only half-full?
Are you talking about a movie made in Memphis, with Memphis actors and a Memphis director or are you talking about a Hollywood movie that no one anywhere in the country is going to?

It is like some are thinking...gee..going to games is fun.
Yes...it is. Even in a slight down year. Lots of fun. Been plenty asking for support and being slapped with the old gee cannot support that is the only was we can get rid of that coach...you know the one who also has an incredible number of assets too.
Others have been asking this for a while.
Try it. You can always ***** louder if they happen to lose.

Might as well have a Senior night for Austin against Tulsa because it will be his last home game as a Tiger.

I think any opinion about Pastner by season ticket holders has been made. I also think that if the one player on the team who has shown the discipline ,effort, and hard work ask you to come help him fight you have his back. There comes a time when silence is betrayal ! GO TIGERS GO !

Well, Mike Anderson does have the Hogs playing extremely well right now. I'll also be pulling for them to upset KY on Sat. afternoon.

The fact that the kid is begging fans to come out says a lot about who is running the program. I have continued to go to every game and pull for these players and because I will not let Josh take Memphis basketball away from me but I understand those that no longer want to go watch him on the sidelines and are trying to send a message that they want a better program.

Better than this?
Josh Pastner with just one more victory will be tied as one of the two winningest Coaches in Tiger History through the first six years. TWO WINS (2) WILL MAKE JOSH THE WINNINGEST COACH EVER! This is amazing along with a 70% winning percentage averaging 26 wins per season in his first 5 years.
After taking over a totally decimated program.....for a new coach....he has done a pretty good job. Next year is looking even better.

I've seen every player on the team show discipline, effort and hard work.
Regardless of what many on this blog attempt to portray, there is no revolt or a feeling of disarray among the players. Some might not be satisfied with their playing time, but they are learning life is not always 'fair'.
Many fans are disappointed as I am, but I don't buy into the talking points that the program is 'falling apart'. We are one good/great guard away from having a really good team. Is that player on the roster? I don't think so. Do we have good players on the roster, yes. We need a QB on the floor.
I'm not convinced JP is the guy who can take us to the level where many expect to be, but I'm also not convinced he cannot be that guy.
