Not jumping down your throat, but UC gets screwed in these rankings because of our 4-year graduation rate. It's a result of the co-op program (which UC actually invented in 1906 apparently -- didn't know that until just now). There are so many metrics college are measured by that it's almost impossible to rank them objectively. I think UC is one of the top 3 research universities in the AAC and is no worse than middle of the pack in terms of undergraduate prestige.

Oh I agree foshizz, Cincinnati is a fine urban university with a beautiful campus, a long proud history, very good academics and a great football stadium in Nippert. One of the prettiest in the sport. Robert, do you know anything about Cinci's wrestling program history? Years in which the program existed. When and why they closed down (probably a title 9) any details would be appreciated. I'm one of the few college wrestling fans on here and take a lot of sh!t for it but there's a few ECU and UCF posters on here who would like to see division 1 programs at their schools...not sure why more obvious geographic wrestling fits like Cincinnati and UCONN haven't expressed any interest ?? Ohio and Pennsylvania have 2 dozen D 1 wrestling programs between the two states..your thoughts on the subject? Thanks

USN&WR no longer classifies the service academies as (unranked) specialty schools. Navy is #13 among USN&WR's National Liberal Arts Colleges (2015 list). That makes them the highest ranked public school on that list and one of only two in the top 25 on that list.

Smaller public schools typically rate higher because of their lower cap on admissions. The main reason why UNCW and App rate fairly high. Those schools are really in different categories from ECU & Charlotte.

I wish I did, but honestly don't. Hopefully another UC fan can shed some light on this subject. I don't consider myself a wrestling fan, but I respect all competitive sports and would love to hear more about the subject.

Sad part is that USF is ranked where its at after losing our Honors College satellite campus and then losing our Polytechnic satellite. I do wonder where we would be if the state legislature would stop playing politics with USF. Both would have pumped up our attendance to close to 60K and our ranking at least another 20-30 spots.

They are listed with national schools -- national schools that focus on undergraduate education like the service academies do. Ranking schools which award only bachelor's degrees alongside those that award doctoral degrees is silly.

I used to work with a guy who wrestled at UC back in the early 70s. The program was disbanded in 1979 (you guessed it Title IX). UC actually had a pretty decent program and had a lot of support. Over the years UC had many NCAA national qualifiers and even hosted the regional championships in the mid 70s.

UC has a club team, but I would love for them to field a varsity program. I am pretty passionate about wrestling as well. I wrestled through high school but never took it to the next level.
