And how would that have happened? Retire and THEN sign with another contender?

Hope he gets signed on in a place where they can use his talents. I guess I don't have to follow the Panthers anymore. They were a rough franchise to root for. The Raiders are frustrating enough.

Would love to see him come back and be our running backs coach one day! I hope he moves back to Memphis, he's a great asset to our community.

No, when he was a free agent

RE: DeAngelo cut by Carolina
I stand by what I've always said. If he would have been drafted by a winning franchise, he would have been a future HOF'er. The numbers that he put up for years when Carolina was awful and had an awful O Line were incredible. He was top 3 in rushing for like 3 years straight. If he would have been drafted by, say, the Steelers. He would have 2 rings and put up HOF numbers

I almost hope he considers the option of retiring, saving his body for his later years and enjoying the memories and the money.

Panthers paid him way more than anyone else was offering. Heck, when his deal was announced, Frank Gore walked out of Niners training camp and held out for an extension!

DeAngelo cut by Carolina
Two has earned the right to do whatever he wants. When he played that 4th year for the Tigers, he fulfilled my expectations. Now he has earned millions in the NFL and is relatively unscathed. I think that DeAngelo should choose to follow his heart.
I would love to see him be a supportive alum like Penny, who stays around Memphis, shows up at Tiger games and mentors kids. But, whatever he does, I hope that he is happy doing it.

That's true, and that's why he stayed. But I'm sure he somewhat regrets not going and getting a ring somewhere

Maybe but the only sure thing was that contract. Now he gets to chose where to go since he won't be asking for much.

Atlanta could use him & he would get the opportunity to show Carolina he can still play.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't move back here when his playing days are done.

He's always said he's living in Memphis when he retires

Even if the Cowboys keep DeMarco, they can always use dependable RB's.

He was a great kid here. He's been a great man in Carolina. He will make anywhere he goes a better place.
Good luck, DeAngelo.

He never really tested the free agency market. He was always upfront that if Carolina would give him a good deal he would not even talk to the other teams. Would love to see what kind of deal he would have gotten if he actually did test the market.
