SU finished 5th in Big East yet no NCAA
There are a chit ton of folks in Syracuse pissed and truley shocked. I live in Dewitt,NY and everyone is dumbfounded how Stanford & Arkansas got in.

SU finished 5th in the Big East for christ sake with a 10-6 conference record and more conference road wins then Purdue, illinois,Ark

I want a split in the conferece create 2 leagues so the NCAA has to add in another spot to 66 due to the new league formed. When it happened to cincy there wasn't much of an uproar in the Northeast because UC was new, but this is friggen SU getting chitted on and Beohiem has enough cloat to get this split thing moving

Maryland finished #5 in the ACC and got a 4 see in the NCAAs. SU gets a #5 in the big east and gets left out?!

I believe both JimB and Calhoun have stated in the past that it is time to split. FB schools need to go their own ways and forget this mess. A league of 8 FB schools is no job and if we need more BB schools, we can always invite GTOWN and NOVA.

listen man I really was against the split but after todays injustice i want a change now.

-Friggen Arkansas who was 7-9 in the SEC friggen West got in over Big East #5
-Stanford, losers of 4 of their last 5 in at 18 wins and 12 f'n losses got in over big East #5

I hope Uofl, pitt,G'town, etc realizes this a slap in the not only at SU but at there programs too

Syracuse and Drexel deserved bids over Arkansas & Illinois.

However, the "5th place in the Big East" is an argument without much merit. SU finished 1 game ahead of Marquette and Nova, who both played much tougher league schedules.

You know who has it worse is Bucknell. They got screwd by both the NCAA and the NIT.

Its not a 1 game schedule, and they have shown that before. Head to head always looks good, but the overall schedule is much more important.

Looking back, Syracuse shouldn't be made they had to play UConn and St John's twice to weaken the schedule, they shouldn't have lost to them when they weren't postseason teams.

Are you actually trying to say that SU should have been passed up by the ncaa selection committee?

No, and I have made that clear in other threads. Boeheim is simply barking up the completely wrong tree by trying to compare against MU & VU. Half the schedule is different for everyone with OOC games and both player tougher league schedules. Arkansas & Stanford shouldn't be in over the Orange but the other two league teams should.

Bucknell? Try Akron. 26 wins, screwed out of an NCAA bid by their own conference officials and then snubbed by the NIT. A bunch of unhappy Zips today.

When did Boeheim compare between Marquette and Villanova? I know he mentioned that he beat those teams, as well as Gtown, but he was talking about the body of work, not saying he should have been in over those teams. That would be dumb.

He didn't say "these teams should be out", but during the first interview I heard him give he said he was going to "keep it in conference, and not discuss Arkansas and their 7-9 record", or something right along those lines. Then he talked about how SU finished ahead of those two schools in the standings. I just would have gone right to several others.

League Action
Arkansas, 7-9 in SEC play before getting hot in their tournament, and Stanford, 1-4 in their last five games to finish 18-12 overall, have no business in this year's NCAA Tournament. Georgia Tech, a middling 8-8 in ACC games, and Michigan State, a plodding 8-8 in Big Ten action, are on shaky ground as well. I would have put Syracuse, West Virginia, Kansas State, and perhaps Akron in before any of those sorry duds.

One problem is that the Selection Committee says they do not look at conference play or how many bids they are giving to each league when they do the brackets. I think either they are out and out lying or else they should start to look at where teams finish in regular season play. It does matter and they need to stop pretending that it does not matter. Factoring in league play might help eliminate some problems.
