RE: Tiger zone defense
Pastner said after last season he planned to focus on playing a lot more zone this year with this group. Was even going to talk to some zone "gurus" to understand best way to execute its principles.

Maybe he forgot he said that LOL

AN was in the middle and the lobs were coming from weakside.

My concern is, will we learn from this, or will it mysteriously disappear like so many other improvements. I'd like to say I think we've figured it out, but due to past experience, I'll believe it when I see it.

Regardless, great time to give it a go. That was a big win for this team.

Heck, I'd just like us to learn during a game & adjust......

One would think that the posters that make know more about basketball than Pastner would be making 2 mill a year coaching somewhere.

Defense didn't win the basketball game for the Tigers...
going 8-19 from behind the arc won the game.

I thought out zone was too soft in the middle and Hamilton got the ball way too easily around the FT line. That being said, they did enough to win.

Agreed...the zone didn't win the game, we didn't win the game on defense. ..we won because Kendren shot well...when you shoot close to 50% and hit 8-19 3's you shouldn't be in a nail biter if you defend well, and yes grabbing a defensive rebound is part of playing defense.

I've emailed him for the last 2 years about playing an 'amoeba' zone...a la the UNLV Running Rebels.
Put the Lawsons in it...with who we have now...devastating with our length.

That's why I want Markel to be able to play PG.
MC, the Lawsons, AN, SG would be a long, tall zone.
Markel looks to be capable, just needs to work on it. That would be his ticket to The League.
