They are perfect venues for medium sized concerts and comedians.

I'm in Tampa visiting for the USF vs Memphis game...Sun Dome was REALLY nice...start winning, and that place will be rocking.

RE: USF SunDome and UCF CFE Arena
It should be noted that this list is for university venues. Says a lot that both schools are doing well despite competing against other venues in the major cities. This probably says more about USFs (in the large venue category) ability to compete than UCFs (in the small venue category)

I thought they had roughly the same seating capacity. ~10,000

I'm not sure that's a valid conclusion, if The SunDome had just a slightly smaller capacity but the same revenue and attendance, it would slot 5th in UCFs category, pushing CFE to 6th. The venues performed very closely, with the nod to USF. The large vs small is an arbitrary 10,000 seat dividing line.

Correct. 10,411 and 10,072.
CFE Arena configured for basketball brings it to a little less than 10,000 which is probably what they used for their rankings.

This. There is a shorter list of musicians that are able to sell out 20k arenas like Amway Center and whatever St Pete Times Forum is called now. Then the list gets even shorter for Football Stadium shows which now usually only do Music Festivals.

But that's what I meant. While the 2 arenas would be in the same class to a prospective performer looking for a venue - the way they drew that line puts UCF up against only smaller arenas and puts USF up against larger ones like Rupp or the Dean Smith Center....ones that can gross those larger events. So due kudos to them for bringing in the bucks. Probably speaks to our common amenity - huge enrollments of kids with disposable income.

I am surprised how well we did considering the amount of competition we have in Tampa. The Sun Dome really turned out great. Probably the best $40 million weve spent.

So is your point that the majority of large shows will consider booking say a 10,200 seat arena, but not a 9,900 seat arena? Because that's the only way these two Arenas are "competing in different categories". The results were ranked by the 10,000 split, but Im not seeing that the actual show booking process is split the way the measurements show.

That's the exact opposite of what I said. See above - a prospective performer would look at both arenas in the same light. But because the arbitrary line is 10000 - UCF is the biggest fish in our pond and USF is one of the smallest in theirs. Which means getting to #5 grossing against arenas that hold up to 18-22K is more impressive than us grossing more than Stetsons Edmunds Center.
It's not a UCF vs USF comparison. For that, you can just compare the money each brought in. It's not that far off. If alcohol sales are included, that alone could be the difference because of our limits.

I think when the Shoe is renovated it will look similar inside to the USF Sundome layout.
