Position Battles: Receivers
Western is loaded here. Their biggest problem might be getting talented kids on the field that deserve time.

WR1: Corey Davis/Michael Henry
WR2: Carrington Thompson/Kendrick Roberts
WR3: Daniel Braverman/Darius Phillips

The biggest battle will be Roberts vs Thompson I believe. Roberts is clearly the Broncos best blocker on the edge, and that might end up giving him the advantage. Thompson, the scout team player of the year, looks to have more upside as a pass catcher.

Phillips will see plenty of time, but a pair of redshirt freshmen in Javonte Seabury and Jordan Billingslea might push for some touches too.

Michael Henry played well when given the opportunity so I didn't want to leave him out of the mix, and Timmy Keith got some playing time at the end of the year, but didn't really attract any targets in the passing game.

I'm intrigued to see Seabury on the field for the first time. I never saw Thompson in practice either like some of you given I'm not local. We have almost an embarrassment of riches (by MAC standards) at this position.

Seabury is definitely intriguing with his speed. Him and Bellamy look like very similar players but I can't help but think Ciarrocca could find 3 or 4 touches for him a game through creative means.

Yah there are so many different types of WR's in this group that you got to find a way to give them all a few touches. Speed, blocking, route running, and great hands.

Could be the deepest we've ever been at wideout, and that is really saying something considering the level of WR talent that's been through here the last 15-20 years.

Unless one completely breaks out in camp, redshirt any incoming WRs.

There is so much depth and talent in this group, it's ridiculous...

Davis is a deep threat and from what I hear, Thompson is too. Braverman and Phillips are great slot guys and were killer on the slants and crossing routes this year. Roberts has the potential to be a deep threat and is a good blocker. Guys like Seabury, Billingslea and some of the incoming freshmen have incredible speed.

Like wmubroncopilot mentioned...an embarrassment of riches

How do you not get pumped when Braverman has the ball?

http://www.hustlebelt.com/mac-football/2...verman-wmu

My pet peeve: those who lament Braverman's muscle-twitch, adrenaline rush as a punted ball is floating towards him. Do it man. Do your thing. That punt return against Air Force would've been a total game-changer. He's the man. Love his game!!!!

Since Seabury and Billingsly took their incredible speed and sped off, and Phillips has pretty much moved to corner, the updated depth chart might look like this.

Davis/Thompson/Moulton
Braverman/Henry/Bellamy/Phillips
Roberts/possibly a freshmen in Curtis, Goulborn

Isn't Moulton a possession receiver who isn't going to break any big runs? That is my impression. Though awhile ago, he made a great catch at Iowa on an out route managing to keep feet inbounds moving the sticks. I see him sitting down against a zone or running the sideline route or a drag route trying to allow him a head of steam with the ball. Love his hands but don't see him breaking anything.

I'm glad Roberts is such a good blocker (taking your word) because he hasn't lived up to the expectation as a receiver, IMO. Yes, I understand he has Davis to be compared to but with his height and apparent athleticism you'd think he would play a far greater role. No?

Still waiting to see if the TE is used to catch the ball any. With WMU's O line strength you'd think that using more of a pass catching TE or allowing those used to currently block run routes (I remember Kimbosucks lauding Boyden two springs ago) to actually catch the ball.
