I know most of you think of USF as we have been the past three years but USF has had many big wins vs big name opponents at their places in the recent past.

Yes. Many newbies are simply unaware. Beating FSU, Miami, Auburn, Notre Dame, Clemson and others was actually expected at USF 5 years ago. Hopefully that will return soon like this year

Yeah, but the program just isn't where it used to be as of right now. That doesn't mean it cant get back to where it was though. Taggart seems to be getting the talent level back to where it used to be and maybe even higher, but he still has to coach and develop those players.

You can have vastly superior talent but lose games you shouldn't due to poor coaching or other reasons(i.e. when UF lost to Georgia southern a few years ago.). That seems to be the biggest problem with Taggart and his staff from an outsiders perspective. Either he can't develop the players or his staff cant. Either way its on him. But its really hard to judge how a coach develops players based on two years. It took O'Leary a while to get the machine running in the right direction and look where we are now.

I just dont think it will happen that fast. You don't usually see teams who won 4 games the year before on the verge of beating a team that was competing for a national championship the year before. But crazier things have happened I guess. usf does have a history of showing up for big games even though that was a while ago

We will find out. I think with Taggart is that he is young and was determined to establish his offensive style even though we didn't have the players to run it. I think he is realizing now that he needs to tweak his system a bit. Remember if he was more experienced at handling this he probably wouldn't be at USF.
As I said I don't expect to win at FSU because I feel we aren't ready yet but hey no one gave USF a shot last time at Doak with BJ starting his first game ever. No one expected the USF defense to be as dominant as they were that day.

USF talent wise I think is ready to have a big jump and I wouldn't be surprised if it happened this year.

Well since USF has already defeated FSU and played a relatively close game in the other USF/FSU game, I think they'll have a chance. When's the last time UCF has defeated either FSU or Miami (both of which USF has done).

usf does not have a chance. usf is down right now and even without winston fsu will blow y'all away. You guys have 6 wins in two years. So I dont see you guys even being in a close game with fsu

While I appreciate all the positive comments, even a bunch from some friends in Orlando, I've got to agree with Zfred here... Our program is a dumpster fire right now. I bleed green and gold but I've gotta be honest. Tossing all the assistant coaches while keeping the head coach is absolute nonsense. Bringing in a new OC, but telling him that CWT will call the plays (especially after the offense the past two years) is even MORE nonsense.

I'd bet my house on FSU. I think we have another year of pain, and then we restart the rebuilding again. Lord I hope I'm wrong, but gutting the staff EXCEPT Taggart tells me he's only still here for the sole reason that we're still paying Holtz. That's the bottom line. Administration prolonging the misery for another year simply to save $$$.

Again, hope I'm wrong... and we'll see.

Rivalry games need to be in-conference, or else a LONG established relationship with years of back and forth beatings. Texas and ATM for instance... or FSU and UF. Nah, not a rivalry game (proximity does not equate to rivalry), just us trying to make a splash against a big boy.

Agreed. USC vs Notre Dame is a rivalry game as is the Navy vs Notre Dame game, Army/Navy game, Texas vs Oklahoma and Ohio St vs Michigan. None of these games involve schools from the same state. The biggest thing that makes them a rivalry is the fact that they've played most every year for over a century and now it's a tradition that every college sports fan knows about and will watch.

It's not a rivalry game but it's a huge impact game for USF and our league
