LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team had its 2016 class rated No. 51 by Perfect Game in the latest national recruiting class rankings, the publication announced on Monday.

The ranking is the highest in the Sun Belt with Texas State second at No. 56. "The backbone of any program is recruiting, and I think this is a great reward for the hard work and effort put in by our two recruiting coaches," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "Coach (Anthony) Babineaux and coach (Jeremy) Talbot do a great job along with coach (Daniel) Freeman who is with the recruits when they are on campus.

This is a big feather in their cap and this is important for the continued growth of our program. We appreciate that Perfect Game respects the guys that we have coming in." The class is also the second rated class in the state of Louisiana with LSU leading the way at No. 28 and Tulane in third at No. 73.

The class ranking is also the highest in the last five years for the Cajuns. Included in the Ragin' Cajuns 2016 signing class are the top two players from Louisiana in Nick Lee (Longville, La.) and Hogan Harris (Lafayette, La.). Lee is the top-rated right-handed pitcher in the state, while Harris, a St. Thomas More High School product, is the top-rated left-handed pitcher in the state.

Joining Lee and Harris in the class are Donald Comeaux (Maurice, La.), Ishmael Edwards (Tomball, Texas), Ridge Heisler (Mangham, La.), Cameron Horton (Bossier City, La.),Hunter Kasuls (Richmond, Texas), Dylon Poncho (Elton, La.), Ryne Ray (Bossier, La.), Johnny Rizer (Cypress, Texas) and Steven Sensley (Baton Rouge, La.). For news and updates on Louisiana baseball follow the squad on twitter @CajunsBaseball.
