- CUSA has a buyout clause, don't they? Couple mill if memory serves.
- They'd lose TV revenue during the transition, to move to a less funded TV deal (for now, future could be different).
- Lack of Texas bowls. They already know Texas State needs to basically win the conference to have a for sure shot at a bowl, and we aren't adding any bowls that help us, so it will be all the more difficult for them.

The conference as a whole would have to make a concerted effort to make this conference "Texan friendly" and I don't know that is necessarily a good thing for EVERYONE. I'd love it, but not sure how the folks at (for example) App State would feel about it.

If you leave CUSA for another conference you have to pay the conference an exit fee that is equivalent to the reduction in TV money for the departing schools.

This is why CUSA might just want to stay at 13 if UAB goes and collect the exit fees with a short term deal. There is a possibility of some more realignment in the next 5 years or so that could drop CUSA down to 12 or less members.

TV has more or less tied down MWC schools or AAC schools from going to another G5 conference option. MAC/CUSA schools would only consider MWC or AAC. SBC schools would do anything but nobody wants to do anything with them.

The SBC needs to have a plan, and an agreement from the current schools that we are where we want to be. Let's start attacking the CUSA! When they get raided, instead of jumping ship, we raid the CUSA as well.

Sure everyone promises not to leave.....your AD turns down an invite.....then the ULL AD breaks his promise and takes your invite.....your AD is burned at the stake and doesn't work in his chosen career field ever again.

Not going to happen.

The only way you can safely turn down a CUSA invite is if you look at the numbers and they are so good that you know nobody is else is going to leave.
The WAC had some sort of agreement that all schools were on board with keeping the conference stable and working together. Except everyone in the WAC was talking to other conferences. Every member was lying to each other.

the haves of the wac were bent on leaving as more and more teams they didnt want to associate with were being added. as soon as there was an opening, those that could left. same thing going on here in the sbc as the few schools that are most attractive keep an eye on what potential adds are talked about. as for utep and utsa coming to this conference..no way.
