RE: It Looks Like The New Beach Club Is Happening
We used to sell beer at the citrus bowl, but stopped when we moved on campus. My guess is that it has everything to do with insurance and liability. Also our fan base is unusually young in comparison to most other programs. That leads to a lot more drunks than usual as well. After seeing our fans at the Fiesta Bowl I am not sure that BHNS is ready for that every Saturday.

Please keep watching games at the Ale House...UCF is much better off if you do.

See, this is why we can't have nice things. 07-coffee3

I kinda assumed you did that already? In this conference
Cincy
Memphis
USF
Temple
SMU
UConn
Tulane

All do beer sales. Get in contact with your AD.

I think most of those are off campus stadiums which is why it is easier for them to sell beer at games. Idk why we dont do it for UCF athletic events, but when the Orlando Predators of the Arena League played at our basketball arena last season they sold beer inside.

We have been doing it forever. Part of it is Cincinnati culture. I went to a Catholic grade school and parents could get beer inside of the school for school events, lol. I think Elder High School sells beer at football games.

UC also sells booze and wine inside Corbett Auditorium for musical productions, on campus.

My son went to a Catholic grammar/middle school and high school. It was a little taken back when beer was sold in the church at some times when jr high/grammar school sporting events were going on. Mrs oldtiger and I just looked at each other like "these folks are a little different". They were having fun, that's for sure. :)

Cool upgrade. Having migrated way out west here, I've still never seen a game at BHNS... I'd agree with those seatbacks throughout... Makes a huge difference.

I think this is a great thing for UCF....make the game day atmosphere as fun as possible! This will be big for you guys. Way to go UCF!

Interview with UCF AD about the ESC

He mentions that it could be used as a stage for halftime entertainment. That's absolutely genius. It will be visible from the entire stadium. Setup can happen during the game.

There's always somebody coming through Orlando, get them to come out and play a couple songs during halftime. Cheap advertising for their concert and added incentive to watch the game at BHNS instead of the Ale House.

That sounds cool, maybe we can add in a DJ booth. 03-lmfao

Congrats UCF. So glad we are in a conference that is moving forwards on facilities.

My 2 cents: this particular project looks like something you'd put in the end zone or in one of the corners.

The idea is visibility. Make it as visible as possible from all facets of media and attendance. Center of the stadium on the side with weaker attendance? Perfect.

Also, through interviews with some of those in charge, the cost of renovating these areas and constructing whatever needs to be done is extremely small and non-complicated. A can-opener analogy was mentioned. With that in mind, if this club hits it off it was implied the rest of the stadium could see the same treatment.

Erector set stadium isn't looking too bad now is it?

I may be wrong, but I think the idea is that it will be in a lot of TV sightlines during broadcasts. Make no mistake this is a publicity thing more than anything else.

It may be a money maker, I'd do it if I lived in Orlando still. I'd still like to see the individual chair backs throughout, and a few other renovations made.

I wish they just chair back anything on the sidelines (aka booster arèas). It will be interesting if it actually blends in the areas surrounding with metal bleachers.

Thanks! I didn't realize I had so much power that I can make an entire University better. That said, I'm a customer. UCF need to make my happy, not the other way around.

This doesn't make you sound like much of a fan. Purchasing tickets and attending games is one of the best ways to show support for your team. If you don't wanna do that because you can't have a drink for a few hours while watching a game then thats your prerogative. We as fans are there to support the team, not the other way around.

I doubt the stadium will ever go full chair backs. I think it would be fine if they end up being added between the 30s only on the 100 level with the rest remaining bleachers

You don't have to be a killjoy to think the lack of booze at the rest of the stadium is ummm problematic though.

Actually what's interesting is the profit margin is very small on college campuses. They do it as part of the experience. I do think it helps our tailgate

You're saying you prefer the lack of booze sales inside--it leads to a better experience both inside and outside the game--right?

I'm not much of a tailgater myself so perhaps that's why I prefer an onsite source of alcohol.

I am saying it encourages people to tailgate instead of showing up for kickoff

Only one negative response so far. When I read the story I thought it was a great idea and still do. Keep it on the sideline for max visibility.

Looks like a good idea...will it be in the normal TV broadcast camera pan? If so then it is a homerun.

Yes...the main TV Cameras are all located on the West Side so the East Side seats (sometimes a lot of empty seats in the sun) get most of the air time during UCF.

Also, moving some others to lower level East Side sections...those should be more full too (even much more so if the Band moves back to the Southeast Corner bleachers).

Plus, I'm sure cameras panning the stadium before/after TV time outs will probably get some extra shots of the club too during games.

Nice win-win for UCF (more $$$, better presentation on TV).

Is there going to be a "no fatties" rule on the beach?

Before you ask, yes, I would definitely get the bum's rush under that rule.
