We always do different things when in Memphis. If you are interested in the history of the city/region, there are some great walking tours downtown. Seems like we got free tix through the VCB. I'm excited to see how the Graceland area redevelopment goes...

That's good to see. I rarely had reason to be in the part of town, but do recall a pretty good bbq place one of my co-workers loved...can't think of the name off the top of my head.

And that brings up another suggestion: have at least two barbeque places picked out in advance, Memphis ribs are incredible.

The best golf course to play for the money is Glen Eagle Golf Course. It is a fun course to play. If you play at 2 or later I think it is $20 for Alduts and half that for your children. They have the best greens in the county. Your children would love it. It is located in Millington 30 minutes north of Memphis. Use to be the golf course for the Navy base located there. Try to play weekly. Have regularly played country club courses and Leffer to play Glen Eagle. I highly recommend the course. It is also well maintained. I love in Germantown 40 minutes from my house and it is worth you time to go.

Not to be a "know-it-all" fuss-budget, but Heartbreak Hotel is not across the street from Graceland, It is at the corner of Monroe and Marshall about a block from Sun Studio.... Which WOULD be a cool thing to go see while in town, now that I think about it.

Must be a different one. Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel IS across the street from Graceland. 3677 Elvis Presley Blvd to be exact. I wouldn't stay there unless you're a diehard Elvis fan who has it on their bucket list. It's nothing special and not in the best part of town. Only a couple decent places to eat around there too.

I didn't even know such a place existed. I'm all shook up, That's all right, In the ghetto, and Heartbreak hotel were my not so clever attempts at Elvis humor...wah, wah, wah (sad trombone).

^ like I said, I'm very happy to see over 100 million in redevelopment of Graceland...that 120 acres attracts over 600,000 people per year.

The one you are talking about is this:

[Image: elvis-presley-heartbreak-hotel-in-memphi...-hotel.jpg]

That is obviously a tourism hotel built after Elvis's death.

THIS is the real hotel @ Marshall and Monroe within eyesight of where the song was recorded at Sun Studio by Elvis: (Horrible photo)
