Free Grunky Peep.

But yeah, the aura surrounding big-name coaches is akin to that of a rock star, and not just in football. I can remember when Pat Summitt came to coastal GA to recruit a kid from Beach High School. Summitt walked in the gym about five minutes after tipoff and the game went on, but nobody was paying much attention. Then the kids started going up and asking her for autographs, then the adults.

She signed the girl she was after, too.

RE: Football is Important in Georgia
Last time I drove through Montezuma, the wife and I stopped to see this adorable little family of goats in a pen at a house near there. The littlest one got his tiny little horn-nubs caught in the fence, and his dad looked at him, apparently going through his goat mind to see what sort of goat solution he could come up with for the problem. He decided to ram the little goat.

Sorry I don't have anything better to add to this discussion.

Did he ram it from the front or did he go all App State on it and ram it from the rear?

Y'know, I realized while typing the story before that it would have a special sort of fallout if told by an App fan.

(It was a downward ram.)

I didn't read too closely, but why is a story about the deification of Mark Richt by some mouth-breathers from a crap part of Georgia relevant to this board?

When Mike Anderson got hired at Arkansas he showed up in Jonesboro to try to keep a Pelphrey recruit (who didn't fit his system). You had a few mouth-breathers following his procession around town and one of the radio stations reporting which gas-station he stopped at.
