I remember retired Coach Diddle had a special box seating area behind one of the goals. The later renovation reduced the capacity but resulted in a much nicer, more enjoyable place for basketball.

In the 80s with Kanard and co, crowds were offer over 13k

Makes me sick the seating was reduced to accommodate the luxury boxes.

That's not the case at all. New fire codes made the arena out of compliance.

Not to pile on here but I heard they had 32 cent tickets for the game. If/when UTEP is winning the crowd will always be over 10k. For example the Women's team NIT tournament tickets were $10 and UTEP had three straight 12k crowd games for that price. UTEP's attendance is pretty bad IMO and they are averaging 8,409. When I was a student I believe we averaged over 11k and I camped regularly for my student ticket.

The 32 cent tickets thing was for 500 tickets in a special section to honor the retiring of Courtney Lee's #32 jersey.

I knew it was a special ticket price but I didn't know how many tickets were available for that price.

Floyd was supposedly hired to sell out The Don. I think we've only had two since he's been here.

I think Tim Floyd coaches the men's basketball team at UTEP. Someone else sells the tickets and organizes the events and promotions for The Don Haskins Center.
