Lost the opener yesterday, but good to come back with the win in the first leg of the doubleheader today. Up 1-0 in the 1st right now with a freshman on the bump for us

Rice takes both ends of the doubleheader from Texas: 10-9 and 5-2. True Freshman Ricardo Salinas shut down Texas for 7.1 innings to get the win. Great bounceback day after last night's give-away game.

Glad to see Jordan Stephens is back. Saw on Twitter that he looked sharp.

Like his old self, but with an added 2 - 3 MPH of velocity. Only faced 2 batters to get us out of a jam in the 9th inning, but topped out at 95 MPH and his "plus" curve was there. Amazingly he was throwing strikes after just one bullpen session. It's obviously going to take him 4+ weeks to rebuild arm strength enough to return to the weekend rotation, but he certainly looks to have regained his form and stuff. Great news, especially since it's unclear how long Duplantier will be out. However, Freshmen Ricardo Salinas (7.1 IP, 4 hits, 2 runs, 4 Ks) and Glenn Otto (2 outings, 2.1 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 BBs, 7 Ks) were exceptional, as was previously seldom used Jr RHP Austin Owelier (6.2 IP, 4 hits, 2 earned run, 10 Ks) and previously seldom used 2-way Senior LHP John Williamson (2 outings, 2.1 IP, 2 hits, 1 run, 1 BB, 4 Ks). McCanna was dominant-- as good as I've ever seen him pitch- and both Fox and Ditman were solid, though both struggled a bit in their first outing....and this was against a very good and experienced Texas lineup. Unfortunately, we beat ourselves in the 2 losses, with all 3 runs in our Friday 3-1 loss unearned, and a key error resulted in Ut scoring 3 runs in the 7th yesterday to tie the game at 3-3, before we lost in the 10th. Josh Pettitte (Andy's son who transferred from Baylor, where he never pitched due to Tommy John Surgery during Fall Ball) is expected to make his collegiate debut next weekend in Arizona, though he, too, like Stephens, will take some time to rebuild arm strength. Pettitte hasn't pitched competitively in almost 1 1/2 years.

How did Marshall lose to that same Florida A&M team the day before? Did they have a stud pitcher or something?
