WWAY Poll: Will the UNCW men's basketball team make great strides under Keatts?
Here is their poll question, and the answers that you can select from (I think I know how the Mullet will be voting!):

Will the UNCW men's basketball team make great strides under first year head coach Kevin Keatts?

- The Seahawks will be the surprise team in the CAA. They'll have a winning season.

-Nothing to brag about this season, but the future is really bright with coach Keatts and his incoming recruits.

- I'm not convinced that Kevin Keatts will be able to turn things around at UNCW. He doesn't make miracles.

-I have no interest in this silly sports poll. Don't even know why I decided to click on the icon to vote.

Most feel that he will get it done here, I agree. It may not be this year, but they should be better barring injuries. They have a real talent infusion coming to UNCW next year. Keatts will get good players.

I think we'll see flashes of the future this year with a lot of the usual. However, next year I expect us to make more moves. Those transfers that are sitting in suits on the bench this year are going to change things, I believe.

I wouldn't put it past this team at all though, to post some upsets in the regular season and in the tournament. The one thing I've seen this year watching a couple games online is the hustle, grit, and determination that seems to have been lacking for most of the last decade.

I think about .500 is a reasonable goal this year based on our non-conference performance. We've looked really good at times but certain types of matchups have exposed the ways we'll get tripped up as well. We won't lose many rebounding battles but at same time, athletic big men seem to be scoring well on us in the paint, and we're allowing a lot of open looks when we go with zone D. Yes, zone D tends to allow a lot more open looks than man to man, but we've allowed more open shots than is typical, I think. ECU had tons of looks but they didn't drop.

On the plus side I love our young guards. Talley and Pugh bring so much to the table in different ways. And our veteran guards are more than capable of taking over some games. If we can improve on the defensive end and cut down on turnovers, we'll finish in the top half of the CAA for sure.
