Outside of ChiDip of course, the NIU board is the worst because most act like they are the second coming of Boise State. Sure, they dominate the MAC. They also have been blown out in recent memory by MAC teams.

I am more concerned with MAC teams beating bigger teams and showing up on a national stage than bragging about winning the MAC. Sure, I want CMU to win the MAC every year. But, do I want them to win the MAC then get embarrassed in a bowl game? No, and it makes the conference look bad. When CMU won the MAC in 06, 07, and 09, they went 2-1 in their bowl games. Their loss was a last second FG to an 8-5 Purdue team.

But you cannot brag about winning the MAC then get massacred by Marshall, lose to Utah State, get massacred by BGSU in the MACCG, etc. I will excuse the loss to FSU. Hell CMU beat NIU by 21 this year, then they have the audacity to call us a crap team. Ok. /rant

I said a few weeks ago when S. Alabama accepted that bowl invite that it was a guaranteed win for whichever MAC team drew that game. I almost wish we would've drawn that junk 6-6 Sun Belt team... 03-weeping

This is the one point in the year where EVERY MAC team/fan base needs to just get over themselves and give energy to the teams in bowls... YET... it seems lately we just harp on each other even when we lose bowls... I.E. NIU giving us crap for the Potato bowl... and us giving them $hit for the Marshall loss... Not sure how it helps... but sending good vibes can't hurt.

You can call me crazy but even I will root for WMU (most of the time) in a big game or bowl game. Our conference needs respect unlike the P5 conferences. If the MAC continually beats big teams, it does wonders.

I can't control whether or not NIU lays an egg or not.

If they win, it's great for the MAC.

If they lose, then I'm going to get enjoyment out of it after all the yapping from their fans.

Bingo.

That 6+1 lady that comes here and trolls during WMU losses is probably having a bad night.

RE: MAC Bowl Games
My ranking of WMU bowl games (I wasn't in college yet in '88 so I can't comment on that one):

1. Purdue (Little Caesers Pizza Bowl) - It was a loss, and it was ugly with a bunch of turnovers by both sides. But it was exciting with a lot of offensive fireworks and a few gadget plays, and both teams were neck and neck the whole way. Attendance was good over 45K, lots of Bronco fans. "Weather" was warm and dry.

2. Cincinnati (International Bowl) - Started out horribly, but we pulled off a great comeback but just missed sending it to OT by a missed FG as time expired. The EJ Biggers trick pass was sweet. Decent attendance all things considered.

3. Air Force (Potato Bowl) - It wasn't a blowout, but we felt a bit out of sync most of the game. Aside from Davis' big plays, our 'O' stalled out a lot. The 14-point swing in 30 seconds was a punch in the gut. Awful weather conditions and poor attendance.

4. Rice (Texas Bowl) - Early in the game, Juan Nunez let a TD pass slip right by his fingers, and that was it. All downhill and it was over by halftime. The score actually appeared closer than it was, given a couple garbage TDs late. A home game for Rice.

He is by far the biggest loudmouth, and makes the whole fanbase look bad, IMO.

Next year WMU and NIU should both be able to look forward to pretty good teams, at least on a MAC level, hopefully more. I'm hoping that one of the good things to come out of the loss is less talk about the Big 12, AAC, etc, since we've lost 3 bowls in a row.

Most of them are. It's just the few who we see here more often than most that aren't.

I can't believe any self-respecting WMU fan would root for Marshall.

Don't kid yourself. If Toledo's back-up RB ran for about 180 yds / 9 yds/carry in Kalamazoo, and Rocket D shutdown Franklin, the Broncos wouldn't have been a better matchup for the Herd than the Huskies.

There was actually some suggestion that NIU should join the Big 12 or the AAC on that board. I'm sure both conferences are about to start a bidding war for NIU. Idiots.

The Big 12 is just pipe dreaming.

But the AAC isn't that big of a quantum leap.

Problem is, the MAC's attendance figures (bad) and media markets (small, semi-rural) don't make our schools desirable, no matter the performance on the field.

All the teams in the current MAC are exactly where they need to be/should be, in my opinion. NIU is dreaming if they think the AAC wants them. Let's not forget their basketball team as well (even though that's easy to do). What conference would want that steaming hot pile of trash?

Hey, leave our bball team out of this. What did they ever do to you? 03-lmfao

Mark May just accidentally said "Western Michigan." Love it.

Now 21-7 WKU.
