If you watch and understand basketball other than being a casual observer who is happy with just winning, then yes what you see on the floor is a mediocre product. It's not good sound fundamental basketball, and there's no semblance of an effective strategy that would result in beating quality opponents.

The talent on our previous teams got us the victories. This team is not really that talented.

Bring it, Snow.

Scanning the schedule for the rest of the year, we will be lucky to average 10,000 drop count this year.

Actual tickets sold is good for the revenue aspect, but forecasting into next year should raise some huge concerns.

Especially if the Grizz have a long playoff run. I can't imagine much excitement for season ticket renewals next year if this year plods along like we've seen and the Grizz continue to excel.

The Grizzlies will be the death of tiger attendance this year and for renewals next. That team has a real chance to advance in the nba playoffs to the finals. There's only so much disposable income in this town.

The Tigers conference slate sucks. Back to playing teams we have been trying to get away from. Memphis fans are fickle and apathetic and a good percentage have already moved on from pastner.

It is what it is.

Casual observers and bandwagoners are only capable of seeing what is on the floor/field at a given moment. Just like some of you were badgering some of us who thought the football team would go 9-3 after the Houston loss. Remember that little nugget? Or do I need to post the link to it?

It's spreading fast. Beating sub 200 teams does nothing to change it either unfortunately.

Next up is a sub 300'team.

Michigan St just lost to a sub 300 team coached by Mike Davis. Pastner never lost to Mike Davis.

I mean, good grief, think what this board would have done if Pastner lost to a 1-8 Mike Davis team AT HOME.

All good teams play cupcakes and buy games. Most have attendance that is affected by it, unless they play in gym that restricts attendance. Very few teams play their home games in an 18,000 seat capacity arena. Most are half that size at best.

And occasionally, they will lose to a cupcake. I was just throwing that in because you seem oblivious to it.

Memphis (and the surrounding region) has enough money to buy 1,044,000 tickets. Don't blame the Grizz for any apathy with the Tigers.

At some point, "just alright" was going to really hurt when "just alright" slipped into "mediocre."

Everyone knows Memphis is a fair-weather friend.

It took Cal about 5-6 years of salesmanship and ultimately a run damn good basketball to ultimately fill Fed Ex Forum, so Josh has his work cut out for him to bring attendance back to those levels. We may just have to accept the fact we are a middling, mediocre program with a once per decade shot at the Sweet 16... not unlike an Ole Miss or a Mississippi State.

Bingo.

Tom, being a fan and supporter of the Grizz and Tigers doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Most folks I know support BOTH.

This team is not really that talented.

So, in your mind, there is no 'hope' for this Tiger BB team because this team is untalented and the coach can't coach the untalented

There seems to be a faction on this board who parrots each other: Fan support is shifting from the Tigers BB to the Griz, and the Tiger BB will sink into an oblivion of apathy.

Even if this were true, it's difficult to see the concern in your posts over the possibility.

If you are going to throw the Griz into the mix of this....let's add the resurgence of Tigers Football. It was a necessary step to betterment of the whole university on all levels for purpose of conference positioning. And attendance was also an issue the whole season.

So let's look even further ahead. What if a pro Football team comes to Memphis?! Titans and Tigers and Grizz...o my.

No, I hope this team wins the conference tourney because that's the only way they are getting in.

The Grizzlies compete head to head with tiger basketball money. Their seasons overlap.

And Memphis doesn't need to worry about an nfl team ever coming.
