RE: Official let the good times roll WMU v Air Force potato game thread
I'm glad we have a lot of talent at QB god knows that is THE most important position in the MAC, or any, I guess, league.
Last year at this time and in the spring there was a lot of uncertainty about whether Zack was the man or not. As it turned out, he was head and shoulders better. Had a nice year.
For now, I think you give the #1 to the one you came to the dance with, and stick with him until proven different.
In sports like wrestling and tennis you have a challenge system. You want to challenge the #1 you can do it, and if you can beat them 2-3 times you'll be on the mat or the match. In band same thing, challenge for a higher chair, you want to be first chair, it's there if you can take it. Football and basketball it's a little more subjective I guess, leadership, team synergy, etc., general stuff comes into it, not just a simple call like wrestling or tennis.

Quote:You can say you thought he should have beaten out the UMass QB but then you hang all of Zach's success being against mediocre competition.
UMass was in the MAC East. You'd be comparing Zach vs UMass QB, both who have mediocre competition. Statistically, Zach was better. Hands down. The only case for UMass would be to say that their QB Alone carried their team from completely horrible to a pretty competitive MAC team (better than record indicated). No awesome RB or resurgence of a team as a whole. But QB stats? Zach had him beat, hands down.
Quote:Silly in never calling Corey Davis mediocre when he drops passes repeatedly in every one of the losses WMU sustained, be it to mediocre or better opponents. Where's the outrage
He holds the highest for a receiver in a bowl game so far: 176 yards, 3 TDs. Against a very good team (10-3), in a loss. Yeah, he's just mediocre. LOL.
Both have room for improvement. Zach, moreso. But he's just a sophomore. Next year, we should expect less room for error (pound for pound) -- but the competition will be more Harsh.
