Just looked up marshall. RPI #300 and a 2-7 record. Really really impressed and this coming from a team struggling. Lol

Question for UCF fans...
Look dj is probably sick of seeing an empty arena. Part of that is a jump in competition and part of it is we have lost faith in his ability to coach. Now we have chad brown chance mcspadden a top juco taco fall etc coming in that will help us. I think 2016 is when we start firing on all cylinders. With Taylor and henriquez it will be a tough squad. The truth is people are tired of losing.

Dan has spent all his life coaching basketball at all levels. Most recently with the Lakers, Suns and Knicks. Taught and coached some of the best that's ever played the game...Kobe, Nash etc.

He's starting this team from scratch. He sent a lot of the kids on last years team packing. The D'Antonis run an offense that depends on having the right players in place. He'll need a few recruiting classes to get it where he wants it but I suspect he will take Marshall to a level in basketball that we've never seen before.

I'm sure that he is looking to leave the first opportunity that he can get, the problem is that he has to win at UCF in order to get that opportunity. He's a recruiter and not a game coach. Hopefully he can legally recruit one more good class before he leaves.

Exactly the same way we felt about him when he was here. Always brought in some nice talent but seemed to get out-coached on many occasions.

Anyway, thanks for the info fellas. Contrary to what "Knightime" tries to stir up, I was just wondering because this is the first time I had ever heard of him not being happy in Orlando. His wife's family lives in the area and I see them out from time to time.

Train him up right, just in case we need another hire soon.

I think the UCF Administration's view, as well as Donnie's, is that he was forced into the runner game with Ken Caldwell by AD Tribble. So I don't think he's taking much heat for the sanctions, and I think the administration believes that with the sanctions gone that Donnie can put a good team on the court. I don't believe it, but I think he's going to get the chance.

That said, if he wants to go take some Big South job, I'm sure we won't stand in his way.

Interesting you mention the funding for Charter flights. I bet that's one of the reasons he wants out. That was one of the primary reasons he wanted to leave here. Long story short....when Hamrick (AD) arrived here he re-allocated all athletic donations, including funds that were raised specifically for the basketball program and put it all together in more of a general fund that could be used for any sport. Donnie had originally been promised from the previous AD that those funds would only be used for basketball and specifically Charter flights. That's where Hamrick and Donnie disagreed and the rest is history.

Well if you get another coach worth more than $.02 we can take them too.

Ha...that will never happen again.

Ha ha why? We took him from you while in the same conference. Now we're in a better conference than you. And the athletic budget gap continues to expand.

Just a butt Hurt thread. I'm sure he is devastated getting a large raise and playing in a conference with a national champ. I mean he could be at Marshall making a lot less in a lesser conference. I'm sure he wishes he was back at Marshall. 03-lmfao

RE: Question for UCF fans...
If DJ is unhappy at UCF, then by all means, tell him he's more than welcome to GTFO. If he's tired of seeing empty arenas, tell him to quit putting together garbage schedules, and actually start WINNING for a change. Thanks to the NCAA sanctions that HE was partly responsible for, this year's team is God awful, probably the worst team in over a decade when we were a bad team in the Atlantic Sun. He was successful early on at UCF thanks mostly to Kirk Speraw's players but since then it's been a steady decline. I think he will finally be out from under his show-cause after this season, so he if wants to leave, I will gladly hold the door for him.

As for not getting support from the admin, not only did he NOT get fired when the results from the NCAA investigation starting coming out, but he got a f-ing contract extension a year or two ago! He's lucky to even HAVE a job at this point, so if he really thinks he's getting no support, he can just STFU now. He's gotten more support than Kirk Speraw EVER got, and he hasn't done a damn thing with it.
