HUGE loss for WWMT. Huge loss for WMU. Huge loss for Kalamazoo.

A true professional in front of the camera and behind the scenes.. and just an all around great guy.

Best of luck Ed!

As Bo sort of said...we want a Western Michigan man. Ed K did a good job, but he is a CMU grad...good riddance.

Wonder how David Drew would do in front of a camera?

Andy Pepper will do fine replacing Gerski.

It's been hard on Ed the last few years.......having to report on multiple Chimp losses in hoops and FB to Western finally got the best of him.

Wait -- he was a sports Director at Channel 3.... to go to UM campus, to be a video sports Reporter?

Sounds like a lower-level job to me...

RE: Kalamazoo loses to UM
It is a good move for Ed because it will take advantage of his passion for sports and his strong work ethic. That job can be frustrating in many ways. The 3 minute sportscast in itself is not hard, so to speak, but producing it and often shooting the highlights and then having it clipped down as often as not by producers who can't time a show or look at sports as a way to clip the show, wears a person out. Plus, they need three people in the department. Try doing a two man schedule for 7 days a week 365 days a year. You can't without someone doing at least a 10 day straight stint when someone goes on vacation. At U of M, time for stories, normal 9 to 5 schedule, job security (because as you get older in the tv market, younger and cheaper becomes a big threat) are all reasons for the move. 99% sure that Andy Pepper will take the position and that is a good thing...he deserves it. Best of luck to both of them.
