That episode is classic.

Comedic genius, I probably have never laughed harder in my life.

If you haven't seen the clip with Wayne Brady when he and Chappelle go out on the town you are doing yourself an injustice. youtube it.

I am grateful to the American Conference for working out such a good deal with ESPN for the visibility. No doubt the uniform combos are in direct relation to recruiting and TV

I have yet to understand how baby blue and white (as worn by Fuente in the photo) is better for recruiting than dark royal blue and medium gray.

That is definitely royal blue on Fuente's sleeve.

RE: Fuente on recruiting.
I remember one game on tv when we were still wearing the darker blue uniforms (a 17 to 17 tie against FSU on TBS in the early 80s). Every other TV game I can remember, we have worn the more royal blue shade. It is what people recognize as us. To change back now to the darker shade in the name of tradition would be ridiculous and actuallly confuse the casual viewing public.

Leave things as is, and spice things up with the chrome, black, etc. Recruits like that stuff.

Yes, it IS "royal blue", which is, unfortunately, the term used on Bob Winn's official CLC spec sheet. I have been recently using the term "baby blue" as an exaggeration (of course nobody else here ever exaggerates, do they?) to point out that Nike's blue is too light. The correct shade of blue is shown here: http://www.perbang.dk/rgb/002776/ . PMS 280 is the very near "Reflex Blue" which was abandoned for the brand standard because it does not have a PMS number. Obviously having a PMS number has not helped.

To put it in another way, "royal blue" was NOT what the students of 1912 had in mind and it definitely does not conform to the brand standard. Some of you are very smart, especially in arguing. Too bad you aren't smart enough to understand the importance of tradition and color consistency.

And to me, they have visibly change the shade of orange they use. I definitely recall them using a more orangey-yellow color when I was growing up. Now it's almost a shade or two away from being near Clemson orange imo

RE: Fuente on recruiting.
Of the 4 teams in the NCAA Playoff this year, ONE of those 4 teams does not have multiple uniforms, of which at least one of those uniforms is nowhere close to the "brand standard"!!!! ONE!!!! Of the top 6, FIVE of them have multiple color uniform combinations.

One of those schools, Oregon, has the most color and uniform combinations of any school in NCAA!!!!

Now, GA, PLEASE spew out that incredibly stupid opinion of how sticking to a brand standard will somehow equate to success in sports again!! 03-puke

Really, I need the laugh!!! 03-lmfao

TCU Colors are Purple and White. They have BLACK Uniforms.
FLORIDA GATORS colors are Orange and Blue. They have white and black uniforms.

I can go on and on but white and black seem to not effect these and other schools as "add on" colors.

Can someone start a thread entitled "Fuente on school colors"?

Perhaps recruiting can be discussed on THAT thread.

This stupid gripe about the right shade of blue is just baffling. When did having the right colors mean anything in recruiting?

05-stirthepot Well now, did they have PMS color code numbers in 1912 and do you think we might be able to interview one of the students from 1912? How would we know what they had in mind?

at a time when our prospects are as good as they have been in 30 years, you insist on creating a stink against our University fighting your ignorant, illogical fight against the administration.

what is comical is that you think you know more than branding experts of fortune 100 companies, tiger fans that are in the merchandise, clothing and team merchandise fields full time. dividing our fan-base on any issue would be counter productive, but insisting you are right against all evidence and logic, just so you can feel superior is truly an exercise in self aggrandizement.

If you re-read the thread, I am not the one who said our uniforms are helping recruiting. I merely replied that I don't see how "baby blue" (an exaggeration of Nike's light royal blue) and white helps recruiting better than "dark royal blue" (should have said PMS 280) and GRAY. I still don't. Auburn, Ole Miss, Penn State, Michigan, Pitt and BYU are a few examples of schools which recruit well wearing shades of blue which are even darker than our official shade. As for gray, it is currently extremely popular and is being worn as much if not more than black. Fashion-chasing is lame, anyway.
