I remember their football coach making a comment a couple years ago how SoCon teams were afraid to schedule UNC-Concord. I've pretty much disliked them since.

Haven't been at the FBS level to generate any pure hate for rivals, but I'll make a list anyway:

UGA - for all of the aforementioned reasons: Wal-mart fan base, entitlement mentality, boorish big-brother behavior...and those are their better traits.

ODU - Their sense of entitlement is surpassed only by UGA fans. They come by it naturally - Bobby Wilder believes he's the 2nd coming of Vince Lombardi, and their fans are the rudest, pissiest bunch of pukes I've had the displeasure of coming across.

Texas - I am really sick of having the Longhorn Network as one of my cable TV channels. Makes me want to dump cable for Hulu or something where I can pick and choose what I want to watch.

While on on that rant - I'm sick to the point of hurling w/ESPN, the NCAA, and the major media outlets constant slob-nobbing of P5 sports. If they would spend 1/10th of their effort promoting G5 sports, they would add 25-30% to their bottom line. People want to see their teams play, not some made-for-regional TV special w/the appeal of a bleeding case of hemorrhoids.

4. Pretty much whoever we're playing that day - It's fun to be a fan. Instead of getting worked up over the pitfalls of daily life, it's great to store up all that frustration and let it out via cheering for your team or railing on another. I have no doubt that most opposing players are fine, upstanding people, but on game day, they are the scum of the earth for a few hours.

3. UGA - I ussd to not care so much about UGA. I mean, they suck and I cheer against them, but the whole elitism of their fans usually escapes me as GS doesn't play them much and I would never willingly join in on a group of UGA fans just to have a conversation. But UGA makes the list since one of their fans is the only person I've ever had try to start a fight with me. Making the very correct observation that GS should have been leading a game at halftime if not for a dubious penalty is not a reason to go. I really hope that guy felt good about himself before leaving the bar for his graveyard shift at Walmart.

2. A vast, almost unending chasm.


1. CrAppy - the only thing better than two fan bases who strongly dislike each other, aren't afraid to shout about it en masse on message boards, and travel very well is the fact that the games are almost always nail-biters. And it isn't even just football. There are always close games and just a little more joy/sorrow after a GS/crAppy game.

I was sharing my personal feelings, can't speak for my brethren, but you are probably right.

Arkansas - They would close down every other school in the state if they could while admitting only rich Dallasites if they could. They attempted to prevent any other university in the state from being called "university". They refuse to play any in-state school in any sport. They are masters of passive-aggressive PR and own the state media. They currently seem to be trying to screw their OWN system's online education efforts in favor of their own variety.

Memphis - Nobody likes them, we just enjoy a double-helping.

LaTech - Historical bad blood and their fans have been terrible for 30 years. They've been better lately but it's not enough.

WKU - Their fans handled conference realignment worse than any other fan base. They make me feel sorry for MTSU fans which in itself is unpardonable.

Dishonorable mention - Penn State, Florida State, P5

Oh how I hate, Ohio State. Or should I say THE Ohio State University. Just never been a fan.
Auburn - War Eagle! Go Tigers! WTF just pick one already. I know. I have heard the stories... Whatever. I get more stupid trying to reason with you people. Once they figure out that, I can move on to...
Alabama - Again Roll Tide... and the elephant. I know the story too. Maybe if they said, "War Elephant! Roll Tide!" more people would be annoyed by the duel mascot/war chant crap. Alabama fans don't seem to embrace the elephant as much. So they kinda get a pass.
I mean seriously. Falcons were playing the 49ers at old Fulton County. We hadn't made the playoffs in almost 10 years. We were losing at the half. To start the half we get the ball. A black cat ran from end zone to end zone delaying the kickoff. Finally, 2nd half gets under way, and a Deion runs it back. Falcons go on to win the game on a hail mary. Winning that game was the tie breaker to get us into the playoffs. But I don't go around screaming war kitty at people do I?
