Lobsters, when put in a bucket, constantly pull each other down to try and get out, instead of propping each other up and helping each other.

I thought you were going to say, "forgot where they came from". Complaining about bowl games in FL and Hawaii.

Is this thread in response to the Houston trying to become a top education school in Texas thread?

U tell me? is that a thread where you've seen a lot of ugliness?
Personally I see it in a lot of threads. I get some good natured ribbing, but so many posts devolve into unabashed hatred and vitriol. All it does is make us look worse and make us all look weaker. If anyone knows your weaknesses it's those closest to you, and in this case those closes to you(whose destiny is somewhat shared by being in bed with you) just seem to want to expose everyone else's weaknesses to the world and mock and deride you. And in turn half of your team's fans do the same to them. I love honest and intelligent discussions but if you think that mocking and belittling a conferencemate is going to make you look better, BOY are you wrong. It just does quite the opposite and makes you look worse too.

Any lobster that makes it out of the bucket ain't coming back to that bucket to save shat --- it's every lobster for himself.

I agree with you but unfortunately some of the fans are too cool for this conference while their teams aren't. It's an unfortunate combination. Some people can't ever be happy. I know this isn't the SEC but heck it isn't the sunbelt either. Every team in this conference has accomplished some cool stuff athletically throughout their history. There are reasons to respect every member of the AAC. Unfortunately because some conferences are haves and some are have nots everyone wants in one of the have conferences and see belittling everyone else as the way to make their team stand out.
It reminds me of political campaigns. Nobody is even that worried about making themselves look good. If you can just put down every other member for something or other maybe they'll pick you...
Personally I am happy with ECU being in this conference and I root for the AAC as a whole. If I am watching football on a saturday with non AAC fans I push for the AAC games to be on tv. If they are saying something disparaging about that team I point out something great they have done in their defense.
Honestly it probably doesn't make much difference one way or the other but if ECU is going to be in this conference I'm gonna hype it up not tear it down.

That is true but even if you look at it from a purely selfish point of view (which I don't necessarily think there is anything wrong with) it is still better to hype the conference up. Memphis just won the conference in football, so which strategy makes you guys look better. Saying the conference is crappy (and therefore Memphis won a crappy conference) or its a good conference?
Not saying Memphis fans are saying that, I haven't really seen any of that. But from ECU's point, if our fans are calling this a crappy conference then we can't even win a crappy conference.
