Yes, I think everyone saw how it helped UAB this year and we simply can't wait another year for our young guys to mature. I have a feeling this is a one year thing for Monken, but after this year most of our younger guys should finally be hitting the point where they can contribute.

The USM site indicates that Tech went after some that selected USM. Maybe Tech went after JUCO but just havent landed any yet.

I think this was based on immediate needs. We graduated both safeties and needed depth and competition on the offensive line. Also didn't have any true tight ends on the roster.

We have 23 HS commits with only room for 2 more. I think I know the 2 we really want and they are both HS players. The only way I see us going for a JUCO is if we lose some of our commits before signing day.

Unless we have a major falling out, our recruiting will be just fine with the HS studs we have committed. If we get these last one's we have targeted..best class in the conference.

Tech lost a 6'4 320 lineman commitment due to Kentucky and a couple of other SEC schools. While our skill players recruiting is fine, we are low on OL numbers needed. USM out-recruited us for at least 3 that we wanted.

We have 9 OL committed if we hold onto all that didn't sign early until February 4.

Got one to flip from Memphis State to us today. One of our signees (Beasley) has 3 years left, and another is out of HS.

I wish Props / non-qualifiers were allowed at MT. Our overall team grades are good enough to take a risk or two.

Following are bios on the five signees:

Nick Beasley (Safety, 6-2, 205, So.)

Personal: Nicholas Beasley … Parents: Stan and Melba Beasley … Born: 5/22/95.

Khalil Brooks (CB, 5-11, 180, Fr.)

Mays High School … Earned first team all-region honors as a senior after registering 92 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries … Had 76 tackles as a junior on way to earning second team all-region honors … Was a state participant in the 4x100 in track … Member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society and Top 10 Percent.

Personal: Khalil Hasaan Brooks … Parent: Mary Brooks … Born: 7/7/97.

Rod Ducksworth (WR, 6-0, 180, Jr.)
Taylorsville, MS (Jones County JC)

High School: As a senior at Taylorsville High School, he had 84 receptions for 1,857 yards and 14 touchdowns while averaging 22.1 yard a catch … Earned first team all-state honors and played in the North-South Mississippi All-Star game.

I don't think we're low on OL. We have 3 committed. I think we'll get 1 more. That's almost a full line in one year.

Co lin produces a good number of players. Plus any kid from St al you dont have to worry about in the classroom.

Was hoping we would sign this kid. Wr is one of the few positions we had no room. Taylorsville is very small but produces good players. Jason Campbell was a Tartar.
Myles Harges (LB, 6-1, 220, Jr.)
