Seems like a move of desperation to take on so many. I can understand one or two, but this many? I can't help but think those that are already with USA that lose a starting job will not be happy.
if the need is there, why not? I seriously doubt anyone on her has evaluated the current roster and needs as much as the coaches. And some of these guys may not even be starts, but be there for depth support.
Could cause chemistry problems in the locker room... Could turn into an us and them mentality with so many. It's unprecedented so I guess we will see bit that's the only problem I see bringing in a small team within your team.
In most cases, I could maybe see chemistry issues, but this isn't like a ton of kids were fleeing the program. I think there would be a mutual respect between current players and the UAB players. Could also look at it as these guys coming in together won't feel like complete loners, and because there is a group of them, could build chemistry with the team faster.
It is always a gamble when you go JUCO/transfers, no matter if it is 1 or 5.

I see that as well. Per ESI, 247, Rivals and ESPN he plays OL.
MTSU Rivals has a tweet about them trying to pick him up for OL.

But you don't see 5 jucos from the same team. They also have a coach from uab right? I was purely speculating but that's about the only thing I can see being a problem.

If they start out winning, it may work. If they lose early it could get ugly fast as the blame game and finger pointing will begin.
This is a pivotal season for Joey Jones' future.

Most of the comments I have seen from USA players have been positive. I suppose someone could get angry if a former UAB guy beats them for a starting spot, but I doubt it.

I think USA did get a UAB assistant. In that case, I would think a lot of the chemistry potential could be dictated by how the coaches handle things.
It will be interesting to see, as we don't really see a mass exodus of transfers, and the kids aren't doing this by choice.

Unlikely. Bryant Vincent was at USA when just about every current returnee on the offensive depth chart was there. Plus Josh Magee spent 2013-2014 redshirting at USA. With so many graduation losses, it'll be good, old fashioned competition for starting jobs and Vincent will know all the candidates roughly equally.

Started every game last year before an injury and started every game this year. I think having a nearly 1,600 yard rusher shows the OL was a strong point for us.

I'm more wondering about all the high school recruits they were working on. With all the additional scholarships being taken up by transfers, do they ask them to take greyshirts or do they lose a equal number to the transfers. I know this would hopefully bring about immediate help but will it affect how recruiting will have to be done for the next 3-4 years? Just curious as this is a non-typical situation.

Yes I would imagine it will but you want know until later down the line. We need to be honest with ourselves most of these kids are committing to G5 schools because of the promise of playing time. You take that away then you loose what little leverage you have.
