Basketball Attendance
I'm always curious to see how basketball attendance goes, so I pulled the numbers for home games only (no away or neutral) and compiled a list below. Note attendance figures updated with CUSA website numbers from BeliefBlazer.

Through 12/11/14

UTEP - 3 home games - 9,372 avg
ODU - 3 home games - 7,233 avg
Charlotte - 1 home games - 7,163 avg
Marshall - 7 homes games - 5,068 avg
WKU - 3 home games - 4,539 avg
MT - 4 home games - 3,826 avg
LT - 5 home games - 2,221 avg
So. Miss - 5 home games - 3,212 avg
UAB - 6 home games - 2,377 avg
NT - 5 home games - 1,599 avg
FIU - 3 home games - 1,276 avg
Rice - 4 home games - 1,260 avg
FAU - 3 home games - 1,158 avg
UTSA - 5 home games - 887 avg

Some notes:

These attendance numbers will most likely increase given the quality of the OOC home games that most are able to schedule, dragging down attendance.

Marshall has played the most home games at 7 and has been remarkably consistent, with a low of 4,789 and a high of 5,463.

Charlotte has played the fewest home games at 1, 7,163 against Miami.

The average across all of Division I last year was 5,014. To crack the top-100 in attendance last year, a team needed to average 5,151.

Current CUSA members in the top-100 last year: #58 UTEP @ 8,088, #92 ODU @ 5,778.

CUSA averaged 3,896 last year, placing it 11th out of 32 conferences in attendance. CUSA is currently averaging 3,291 this year.

RE: Basketball Attendance
Ours will go down between now and conference play. Having Richmond and VCU helped. While school is out, we have NC A&T, Georgia State, UMES, W&M, and Mt St Mary's all over the holidays. W&M will draw ok, but the rest will bring us down. If we continue to take care of business, attendance will go up again in conference. My guess is 6,500 at year end. We were averaging over 7,500 when we were a top 50 team in the CAA, but there were a lot of regional rivalries.

Good catch; thanks. Fixed.

Point out other issues, if you spot them and I'll fix.

We just need a good fight between our teams to generate some added interest in our future games.

Yeah, if I were you AD, I'd aim for something like Troy has. I think it holds about 5000. Looks good though. College of Charleston is another design that would be good for UTSA. D1 in appearance and quality, but not overly large--which is probably a good thing for a school that currently averages less than 1000 per game. Can't imagine you'd go from less than 1000 to more than 5000 any time soon.

I am shocked that Rice is not last in attendance, and shocked again that UTSA is.

I should clarify to say that I think everyone's will probably go down before they go back up because of the holidays, etc.

That would work out nicely. Someone on the staff needs to really push improving our attendance. Hell handing out free chicken seemed to work for the Football program. 04-rock

True, we do have a 7 game home stand coming up where we will not play a road game for almost a month...

I feel your pain. USA's OOC home schedule is the worst I've ever seen. I'll see your Alice Lloyd and raise you a "Carroll". Here is our complete home OOC schedule... Don't barf...

Carroll (NAIA)
Spring Hill (NAIA)
Middle Tennessee
Howard
NJIT (hey, they beat Michigan!)

Obviously we won't have strong attendance with that schedule. We are averaging 1,522 through the first 3 home games.

OMG. We have three home games in a row in which the school name contains "Mary". Can that be good for attendance?

The UofL game will help us maintain the 4K+ average. If we show well in it, we might go up a bit, even with playing Alice Llyod.
