From: http://www.fbschedules.com/2014/12/ranki...ttendance/

7. MAC: Northern Illinois vs. Bowling Green
Attendance: 15,110
Date/Time: Friday, Dec. 5, 7:00pm EST
Venue: Ford Field, Detroit, Mich.
Capacity: 65,000
Fill Rate: 23%
Only 15,000 brave souls travelled to Detroit to watch 10-2 NIU and 7-5 Bowling Green battle for the MAC title.

6. C-USA: Louisiana Tech at Marshall
Attendance: 23,711
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 12:00pm EST
Venue: Joan C. Edwards Stadium, Huntington, W.V.
Capacity: 38,016
Fill Rate: 62%
11-1 Marshall, playing for its first conference title since winning the MAC in 2002, couldn’t fill more seats for its showdown with Louisiana Tech. Especially since average home attendance in 2014 at Joan C. Edwards was 28,682, or 5,151 more than the conference championship game drew.

5. Mountain West: Fresno State at No. 22 Boise State
Attendance: 26,101
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 10:00pm EST
Venue: Albertson’s Stadium, Boise, Idaho
Capacity: 37,000
Fill Rate: 71%
Boise State couldn’t fill all its seats on Saturday night, despite the fact it had a ranked team vying for its first conference crown since 2012.

4. Pac-12: No. 2 Oregon vs. No. 7 Arizona
Attendance: 45,618
Date/Time: Friday, Dec. 5, 9:20PM EST
Venue: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, Calif.

This was the fourth-ever playing of the Pac-12 title game and the first year at a neutral site.

3. Big Ten: No. 13 Wisconsin vs. No. 5 Ohio State
Attendance: 60,229
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 8:17pm EST
Venue: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Ind.
Capacity: 63,000

Even though the Big Ten had 4,579 fewer fans on hand for its title game than the ACC, its file rate was 8% higher, making it second only to the SEC in terms of the fewest empty seats.

2. ACC: No. 4 Florida State vs. No. 11 Georgia Tech
Attendance: 64,808
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 8:00pm EST
Venue: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, N.C.

Nearly 9,000 seats sat empty in this season’s ACC title game, also the gateway to perfection and a playoff slot for Florida State.

1. SEC: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 16 Missouri
Attendance: 73,526
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 4:00pm EST
Venue: Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Ga.

Based on what? We don't who, where and what's on the line to predict finishing 4th. If it's at ECU then you'll be right. 50k. If it's anywhere else but maybe Bright house stadium or liberty bowl, then it's less likely as most AAC stadiums seat 30 to 35k. New Navy stadium is 32k and the newly renovated Nippert, 40k. Tulane and Tulsa don't even hold that many....

In all of your scenarios, the AAC would most likely finish 4th or 5th...like he said.

I din't like the fill rate comments. Especially when it is held at a neutral site. I understand trying to create demand by not having quite enough seats and what that does for the reputation of said conference chsmpionship, but it is almost impossible to find the right size stadium every year when the neutral site moves from city to city in an effort to please fans.

RE: Attendance Rankings - Conference Championship Games
The PAC12 and ACC will both struggle to sell out neutral site championship games since they're so spread out. There's only a couple teams in each conference that have the ability to trek 40k fans across the country for a conference game, then do it again for a bowl game, then potentially do it again for the playoff finals. You're asking your fans to spend like $10,000 each over 5-6 weeks.

I'm not a hater. Just responding to the ridiculous comment from the ECU poster above who guarenteed "50K" for an ECU title game and then said "maye" UCF would draw well too

So it was worth noting that ECU's last title game drew just 33K while UCF drew 42K for our last titel game.

RE: Attendance Rankings - Conference Championship Games
so every conference that played a champ game in a home stadium had attendance below the host team's average and every game played at a neutral location had attendance below the league's average but the AAC, boy oh boy, they are going to KILL it next year! good luck with that.

RE: Attendance Rankings - Conference Championship Games
It doesn't matter who hosts the conf title game next year in the AAC. Attendance will be less than their season average. It requires purchasing a ticket that will cost probably half of what a full season ticket is. When Memphis used to host the cusa basketball tournament, there were only about 12,000 fans at the champ game, yet we averaged 17,000 during the season

Ucf had 55K at our champ game in 2005 and 42K at our champ game in 2010 (capacity 45k) so yah I'm comfortable saying we'd at least maintain our season average if not exceed it.

In all fairness...the CUSA CC game was played in awful weather... They would have had a much larger crowd if it was not raining.

This. Its not a part of the season ticket package and given the split in the divisions its not likely the away team is bring very many fans. Unless perhaps is Memphis UC or Navy ECU.

7. MAC: Northern Illinois vs. Bowling Green
Attendance: 15,110
Date/Time: Friday, Dec. 5, 7:00pm EST
Venue: Ford Field, Detroit, Mich.
Capacity: 65,000
Fill Rate: 23%
Only 15,000 brave souls travelled to Detroit to watch 10-2 NIU and 7-5 Bowling Green battle for the MAC title.

6. C-USA: Louisiana Tech at Marshall
Attendance: 23,711
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 12:00pm EST
Venue: Joan C. Edwards Stadium, Huntington, W.V.
Capacity: 38,016
Fill Rate: 62%
11-1 Marshall, playing for its first conference title since winning the MAC in 2002, couldn’t fill more seats for its showdown with Louisiana Tech. Especially since average home attendance in 2014 at Joan C. Edwards was 28,682, or 5,151 more than the conference championship game drew.

5. Mountain West: Fresno State at No. 22 Boise State
Attendance: 26,101
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 10:00pm EST
Venue: Albertson’s Stadium, Boise, Idaho
Capacity: 37,000
Fill Rate: 71%
Boise State couldn’t fill all its seats on Saturday night, despite the fact it had a ranked team vying for its first conference crown since 2012.

4. Pac-12: No. 2 Oregon vs. No. 7 Arizona
Attendance: 45,618
Date/Time: Friday, Dec. 5, 9:20PM EST
Venue: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, Calif.
Capacity: 68,983
Fill Rate: 66%
Fewer fans turned out for the Pac-12’s title game than did any of the four power-five conference championships: 14,611 fewer than the Big Ten game, 19,190 fewer than the ACC and 27,908 fewer than the SEC.
This was the fourth-ever playing of the Pac-12 title game and the first year at a neutral site.

3. Big Ten: No. 13 Wisconsin vs. No. 5 Ohio State
Attendance: 60,229
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 8:17pm EST
Venue: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Ind.
Capacity: 63,000
Fill Rate: 96%
Even though the Big Ten had 4,579 fewer fans on hand for its title game than the ACC, its file rate was 8% higher, making it second only to the SEC in terms of the fewest empty seats.

2. ACC: No. 4 Florida State vs. No. 11 Georgia Tech
Attendance: 64,808
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 8:00pm EST
Venue: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, N.C.
Capacity: 73,778
Fill Rate: 88%
Nearly 9,000 seats sat empty in this season’s ACC title game, also the gateway to perfection and a playoff slot for Florida State.

1. SEC: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 16 Missouri
Attendance: 73,526
Date/Time: Saturday, Dec. 6, 4:00pm EST
Venue: Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Ga.
Capacity: 71,228
Fill Rate: 103%

I guess the AAC should place 4th or 5th next year depending on which school host the Championship game.04-cheers

I think you would be wrong. Look at our last conference championship game and our current conference attendance. I would bet 40k.

Interesting since the last time ECU hosted a title game you didn't break 38,000 fans.

The last time we hosted the stadium only held 43,000, and the weather called rain/sleet,changing to snow in the evening. It was in the low 40's and rained off and on. But, don't facts get in the way.07-coffee3

In the FCS, the SWAC title game between Southern and Alcorn State drew 39,000 to Houston's NRG stadium.

They were begging people to go to the game in Boise for $20 a ticket. From what I heard the season ticket holders were pissed because it wasn't included in their package and BSU had already beaten Fresno before.

I'm curious, do other AAC schools give out free student tickets? I'm assuming yes, but wanted to be sure. UCF gives out free student tickets to all sporting events.

Student fees? I could see where student attendance may be limited for capacity reasons (1st come, 1st serve), but thought it was accounted for like using any other part of the university...the library, labs, clinic...by way of fees.
