Fritz speculated as possible new U. of Houston Coach
Probably nothing there. From the Houston Chronicle...http://blog.chron.com/sportsupdate/2014/12/potential-coaching-candidates-for-cougars/#29012101=0

Thoughts?

Eh, he does make sense with the Texas ties. Houston can pay who they want though, so I don't know if Fritz would be a top choice.

I haven't followed Houston in a while, but if Fritz gets hired it'll be interesting to see what kind of offense they run. Not sure if they still run the Air Raid or not.

i can see this hire, but not sure he'd want to run an option offense in the AAC

If it does happen I believe there is a pretty big buy out for our level. We should have the money to go get a good coach if this happens.

RE: Fritz speculated as possible new U. of Houston Coach
Fritz has only been at GSU one year, the right thing for him to do, is to take his name out of consideration for the Houston job, he made a commitment to GS to be their coach longer than one year, I doubt they would have hired him if they knew he was going to jump ship so soon. If he is as good as GS people, and the rest of the collage world think he is, he will have plenty of opportunities down the road.

RE: Fritz speculated as possible new U. of Houston Coach
Houston's OC is Travis Bush, he was OC at TXST during their 2005 playoff run. Not sure they will keep him though. I could see him going to UH because it's back home for him but I don't think he jumps for that job after one year. Now maybe coach Hud...

I'm not worried I think we have him at least one more year.

I think GS stays in the top third of the conference but takes a step sideways to backwards as other SBC programs like App and Ark St. improve.

Fritz leaving would only enforce that prediction.

I was about to give him a "bless your heart" but I thought that was a bit harsh. Yeah, we've been through all the rationalizations to the point that our fans are weathered and jaded. I Found myself listening to TCU's OC on the radio yesterday and immediately going to google his background to judge his HC worthiness. It's become a kneejerk for me to always be thinking of who we should hire.

That is just the nature of the business. NIU changes every couple of years as well. The only thing you can do is get a high buyout and make sure you have an AD with a contingency plan and some vision.

Aww...how sweet. The App fans still think coaches have honor.

One of these days...you'll understand.
