One more comment on that...

Obviously, I can't prove this, but my gut says if Northwestern or Purdue had won the B10 with a 12-1 record and Texas or Oklahoma had won the Big 12 with an 11-1 record, the Big 12 would be the one in the playoff. So, I feel it's more about reputation/national appeal than simple math.

ECU v Florida is ranked 29th out of 38 bowls?

Houston v Pitt is ranked 31st out of 38?

Navy vs San Diego St is ranked 35 out of 38?

Why are they being such jerks to the league? I'm actually happy with the opponents for the AAC. All big name schools, Florida, NC ST, Virginia Tech, Pitt and BYU and then we have Navy vs San Diego St in the Poinsettia Bowl (San Diego) With the San Diego navy crowd in attendance its always a good match-up between those two...?

Tha ranking of ECU v Florida is harsh, but outside of the AAC/ECU bubble the SEC fans don't really care.

I don't care about 80% of these bowls. Do I really care who wins in Georgia vs UL? Do I really care that TAMU is playing WVU? The "#9" bowl has ND vs LSU to which I say - WHO CARES?

That's why these bowl rankings are so absurd.

People watch bowls for 2 reasons: 1. It's the holiday season and people have time off and 2.) It's football on TV. Aside from the now Playoff bowl games, no one tunes in for any of these matchups themselves.

Surprised that the Louisville - Georgia Belk Bowl Matchup to them is more appealing then the Fiesta Bowl...04-cheers

That one caught my eye too....still wish that was where the AAC champ went. Even if ECU didn't make it, fans would be in Charlotte to support it. AAC champ vs 5th selection (includes Notre Dame) from ACC.

More power to ESPN.....my Top 6 are as follows:

1. Miami Beach Bowl
2. Poinsettia Bowl
3. Bitcoin Bowl
4. Military Bowl
5. Armed Forces Bowl
6. Birmingham Bowl

They're in that order because that's the order I'm gonna watch them in and its the only ones I plan on watching.

So they can drop from 9 to 8 conference games and add another cupcake like Kent State to the schedule? That will make their resume better?

The B1G and the Pac 12 played 9 Conference Games...and Oregon State and Ohio State played a OOC P5 Opponent for a Total of 11 P5 Opponents...Ohio State Lost to Virginia Tech...Oregon beat Michigan State...Florida State played 8 Regular Season Conference Games plus 3 OOC P5 schools for a Total of 12 P5 Opponents and all three leagues have CCG...also, look at the Baylor OOC Schedule and really TCU while playing one fewer game overall...simple math...12-1 > 11-1.

Here's more simple math: 5 power conferences - 4 "playoff" spots = 1 upset conference every year.

Or two if the $ec has it's way.03-nutkick

Apparently 1 Guy in Orlando doesn't.

And the Answer is, Everyone does!

A complete list of who ESPN cares about can be found in the CFB Nation drop-down menu:

Team
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Florida State
Georgia
LSU
Michigan
Nebraska
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Oregon
Penn State
Stanford
Texas
Texas A&M
USC

Anyone wondering how Ohio State jumped TCU/Baylor can just refer to that list as well.

Yeap that proves it! ESPN did it! Shazam! Good Detecting!!

Uh, college football fans do. I love UCF and the AAC, but I definitely plan on watching more then our own conference bowls. I like watching the different matchups from schools in different conferences. I'm certainly not gonna watch all of them, but there are plenty of interesting matchups.
