Quote:As I have said multiple times, was this years turnaround incredible? Absolutely. But until he at least get WMU to the MACC game I don't see him really being an option for a bigger job.
If he didn't go 1-11 (now, to be fair, that's a big 'if' change) and instead went 6-6+, and this Next Year he goes 8+ wins while winning a bowl this year -- he'd be hired somewhere all without a MAC Championship game. Last year hurt him -- as it did the fan-base -- but also ricocheted into Excitement for this year about being 8-4, which is why I see the over-blown "Oh, he's very possibly going to be hired This year" excitement.
Last year was over-blown about how awful we're going to be as long as we have "that guy".
This year was over-blown about him being hired away at the end of the year due to His (thus team's) improvement, going 8-4.
Quote:You want to see pessimistic. Just wait until next summer when we start hearing all of the hype from the Athletic Dept about how THIS is the year that we break through and win the MAC Title. That is my single biggest pet peeve every year about WMU Football.
You're right. People are going to be easily disappointed and not see the bigger picture, but instead, get caught up into Emotional Hype.
2014: Kinda Easy Schedule (1 P5 that CMU beat by 21, 1 6-6 P5, 2 FCS-level teams Home/Away; Toledo & NIU at home more wanted than away games @BGSU, @Ohio)
2015: TOUGH SCHEDULE (MSU, @Ohio State, @GA-Southern, @Toledo, @NIU)
We're going to be a better team, but most likely, a game back in record. BGSU with their Original QB Matt Johnson coming back? If we have BGSU at home, that's going to be tougher than @BGSU this year without him. Both Toledo & NIU will be better at least by a step. Ohio & UMass will be better. BSU will certainly, as will Miami-OH.
The only team I see not being as good or getting worse next year is CMU. This was a "rebound year" for the MAC -- great timing for us to get our confidence up and to experience some sweet wins!
