From A Mistake to a Class Act
Mike Orakpo was told he likely wouldn't get a medical so he decided to not pursue it. Here's his open letter to the fans and the University.

Very nice.

Players shouldn't lose eligibility over legit injuries. Another area that needs reform.

I don't know the background on the mistake part of the title, but he does sound like a class act. Best wishes to him!

He started at Colorado St. My understanding is he was kicked off the team for a fight at a party. Fran gave him a second chance and he was a true leader on the team. He will be greatly missed. Sucks his season ended early. Best of luck to him.

I'm glad it worked out. Too often, it doesn't. We tend to look at these guys as gladiators or something, when they're just basic kids a year or two removed from high school. That doesn't excuse misbehavior, but sometimes I'm surprised at how well-behaved college athletes (as a whole) are. Again, best wishes to him. I hope to watch him on Sundays in the future.

This is what makes college and college sports so great--kids becoming adults and bettering themselves. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors, but it sounds like he'll be a success regardless of what field he goes "professional" in.

Got to be proud of him! Mayo was a wrecking ball, hopefully we see him in the next level.

Falcons could use some LBs.
