Boise Airfare and Distance
I checked map for distance Boise is 1800+ miles, long drive!
Airfare is $799 - $1200 depending on flight times, stops, etc.
No direct flights from Kazoo, GR or O'Hare, each has at least one stop in Phoenix.
Hope a travel company offering a "charter package", otherwise could be small crowd from Kalamazoo!

RE: WMU vs Air Force Idaho Potato Bowl!!!
Air Force beat both Boise St. by 14, and Colorado St. 27-24... two best teams in the Mtn. West.

I SOOO wish it was a Florida flight.
Paying $1,000 to travel to cold Idaho? Ouch.

RE: WMU vs Air Force Idaho Potato Bowl!!!
Any bowl is a good thing, but a real cold game, in Boise, is tough to put a positive spin on. Think the players would have been much more excited, and rewarded for a solid season, if we were headed someplace warm. I must admit I would have rather played against someone who we would be favored against. So I'm a bit disapointed. On the other hand, Playing Air Force will make it more relevant interest wise.

Positives
Guaranteed payout (granted we still lose money overall, but could be worse)
Solid opponent
Good TV slot (Sat. at 5:45 p.m.)
Negatives
Location/Weather
Travel sucks for most alum (cost and distance)
Preparing for an option offense, as kimbo noted
Would've rather been in Boca Raton or Camellia Bowl, but oh well.
Going against Air Force, we'll have to earn this one.

Oh I agree we can for sure. Just saying.
Actually, we are used to playing in cold. The last month or so has been all fridged games. And we have done well.

This will help us a lot for the G Southern game. A couple weeks straight of stopping the option.

Didn't do so well in the cold against NIU. Just checked airfares out of Detroit and round trip at decent times is running $1,000.

Well, we play MSU in-between... and obviously an end-of-season in-between. But yes, good to reference to and still have it fresh in our memories before the GA-Southern game on Sept 12th!

Flights out of midway in Chicago to Salt Lake City and back out on SW are $528. Car rental for 3 days using Natuonal using a mid size is $160 round trip. Car ride is 4 hours. See the country and the Broncos!

For the prices I'm seeing and hearing about... I say drive it. If you can survive the first day of driving through southern Minnesota and South Dakota -- or Iowa and Nebraska depending on what route you take -- the drive through Wyoming and eastern Idaho (Jackson Hole/Grand Teton area) is incredibly scenic and stunning. If I was going, I'd road trip it!

Air Force Academy is such an honorable team to be playing with the tradition, the patriotism, and the record, 9-2.
Location aside, what an honor for WMU to be in a bowl with such a worthy opponent.
I am truly proud to be a Bronco and am EXTREMELY grateful to the team, Coach Fleck, and all of the coaches and to Kathy and Mr. Dunn for all of their efforts to
make this bowl experience a possibility.
My sons, their families, and my grandsons will be locked in front of the TV watching ESPN on the 20th. There may be a possibility of some Bronco fans attending as well.
Go Broncos!!! Row the Boat!!!!

Have you ever stayed in Jackson Hole, I have. It was $350 a night at a Best Western in SUMMER........ten years ago. During peak ski season it will be over $450. My ophthalmologist offered me his condo at a discount rate. It was $400 a night. If I rent it through the agency it was over $500 a night. If you really want to go it would still be cheaper to fly into Denver, rent a car, and drive to Boise.
