Don't think it will happen. He tried to recruit a UH commit to TCU last year and was caught redhanded. I won't post on a public message board that he broke a rule or that he bad-mouthed UH, but I will just say what he did rubbed people here the wrong way.

Ehhh. Recruiting is war. Briles took RG3 from us when he left to takeover at Baylor and we would take him back in a split second. We are going to do what's best for us right now.

Some are claiming we have already conducted some interviews and already have our guy. The fact Meacham abruptly cancelled the interview with Tulsa is leading many to think Meacham is that guy. Personally, I would prefer a currently successful head coach at the FBS level that is making the kind of salary we could easily double. Guys like Fritz, Babers, Carey, and Wells would all fit that description. That said, after watching what he has done with TCU's offense, you could do much worse than Meacham. Plus he is already familiar with our situation and personnel. All I know is we cant afford to screw this hire up.

You can add one more. I said it back then, but I never did get the hiring of "the brains of the operation" that never won a game that really mattered.

I'm sure I can go elsewhere and find stuff about him being "a nice guy", but wouldn't we all like to get paid nearly a mil a year to be "nice"?

Anyway, I'm surprised how many folks think this is surprising to any extent when the records are 5-7, 8-5 and 7-5. I guess 13-1 was really that long go.

Yes, I lol'd.

Houston is a very appealing gig now, it's interest growth is improving by the minute.

To be fair, all positions are known to move up and succeed... Ours just didn't quite pan out to expectations.

If you want to get another special teams coach as your head coaxh, Carlos Barocio-Leon is available

Pelini or Leavett would be great hires. I really like Leavett. But I will not be upset with Meachem if we can keep GIbbs.

Source confirms Mike Leach has interest in #UH job if buyout and contract issues could be worked out. Watch #abc13 (Houston) tonight for more.

Holy crap. A Sampson level hire for Coog football? I heard some UH/Leach rumors about about month ago. I just assumed it was wishful thinking. Maybe he is ready to be back in Texas. However, if I come back to reality, I don't think we have the money pull it off unless someone like Moores or Fertitta gets involved.
