Start Calling The Bowl Reps
Make a pledge for a certain number of tickets...remind them how much of a once-in-a-lifetime situation this is. Has there EVER been a bowl eligible D1 team that is being dissolved? This is historical and unprecedented. The fan base has never been more alive.

Hit all the selling points.

If we get put into a bowl on Sunday...I honest to goodness think we will win this and football will be reinstated. If we win this, we will have won the war on Athletics. They won't be able to touch us again.

Students are infuriated due to the lack of transparency and communication from Watts, Faculty are upset by the lack of inclusion and having to deal with the black eye he has just created, and alumni are just over the top pissed. The USGA unanimously voted a bid of no confidence for Ray Watts and are working to convince the Faculty Senate to do the same - which is highly possible...as many of the faculty I have heard from are pissed that Watts is only one year on the job and is pushing his weight around so prominently already. They are also initiating their own study on the Carr report. This has become much more than a football issue (as it truly is) and it has become a trust in leadership issue. In just 3 days, Watts has made more blunders than anyone could have imagined. There is legitimate anger on campus and not just on the undergrad side, as you saw in that op-ed by the med students. Cutting football without any consultation with faculty or students was just the final straw in a long-brewing list of concerns.

Watts will either step down or be fired before we even play in the bowl game we might be selected for...the students and faculty will make sure of that.

I have a very strong feeling that Clark will win C-USA Coach of the Year. It is an award that is voted on by C-USA coaches and Clark is well-respected by his peers. The award almost becomes a political statement for the conference in general against the P5, though he has earned it outright. Might even be a split award.

Imagine if we get into a bowl, win that bowl with our C-USA Coach of the Year, and our president has .been fired due to the uproar going on.

The first thing that will happen is that students will demand that football is immediately reinstated.

Fight for this bowl...campaign like you never have before...and let's win one more game and I truly believe we can come out stronger than we did coming in.

Damn, that was well spoken! Might not go down that gloriously, as Marshall's coach Doc Holliday will certainly have a strong case for it if his team can beat La Tech in the C-USA championship game and, coupled with the defeat of TCU in their championship, move on to face most likely Oregon in the championship semifinal. But then again Clark's story about getting his team canceled by an absolute bonehead of a university president who quite frankly didn't give a damn about them just might trump even that.

In 2006, there was a tie and therefor a split Coach of the Year Award.

Art Briles won and Houston had a 10-3 record (at the time) and were Conference USA champs.

Todd Graham also won for taking a 1-10 Rice team from the year before to a 7-5 record in his first year as a Division 1 head coach.

Btw, can someone get a copy of this no confidence resolution? USGA needs to send it to the media and generate more publicity.

Looks like Boca, Dallas, and Birmingham are best bets right now.

Can you imagine getting the Birmingham Bowl? 70k+ for a UAB game! We'd end up tearing the place down...

Already reached out to Boca Bowl and to Mayor Bell, whom I was led to believe has a "hands on" influence with the bowl and asked him how influential he could be in extending the invite to UAB? The place would be damn near packed for this one. These kids deserve to strap it on in a postseason bowl, and as much as I would like for it to be a traveling endeavor for them, after all, bowls are supposed to be a reward for the team, to do this one Birmingham Bowl with "Birmingham's Team" in it would make a very impacting social and political statement.

+1

While I'd love for the team to have a cool vacation spot for a bowl, if they went to the Birmimgham Bowl, we could make it into one hell of a #FreeUAB rally.

As much as we've HATED on those [bleep] black jerseys in the past, how awesome would it be to see the team in black for this. With #FreeUAB on the nameplates in the back.

That would be a HELL of a statement.

We'd have no where near 70,000 unless some Bammers came out just to celebrate our demise.

"No one will touch them with what's going on with the program since other options exist," the source said.

Other talking points :

We have a great young coach & staff. Ready made with recruits & transferable players to kick start any program.

We have an electric return man.

We have enough emotion to fill to gulf of Mexico.
