Since Mackin isn't AD anymore & the (I assume) Asst AD is, are we even looking for a AD???

Shannon Ealy is the temporary AD. Guess we are looking for a permanent one now.

Yes SE is acting but is he now the permanent AD or search going to start? Announcement on a search for new AD??? That is telling right there of direction of athletics as well as another of the many questions needing to be asked/answered - Not that I expect him to make one

On the one hand, he was pretty much Brian Mackin's right hand man. On the other, I heard that he and Andy Marsch were both on the phone well up into the night on Monday talking to various concerned players and parents. It spoke well of the man. I don't know him personally.

I'm sure that there will be an AD search but there are a lot of irons in the fire at the moment.

We need another AD with ties to UAB, not some outsider who doesn't appreciate our history.

SE is a GUY and he has been on the job for quite a while at UAB as a Sr Asst AD or the like. He has abundant experience in the sports field and is a nice guy. Dont have any idea if he is a candidate for the permanent position.

He was Mackin's hand picked successor from what I read somewhere.

Which comes first? a new AD or finding out where we are going to be playing league-wise? It appears likely that if UAB is dropped from C-USA (most likely at the end of this 2014-2015 school year since team schedules are already set) we will need someone to hire the new MBB, WBB, Soccer and baseball coaches. That is what happened at BSC when they dropped their sports to a lower conference so they could have D3 football. I imagine these guys are thinking that they did not sign up for this kind of treatment.

Bham Southern dropping down is how we got Head Baseball Coach Brian Shoop.

I expect it to happen at UaB as well.
