Agree he can't coach, but he is laughing all the way to the bank. USM is still paying him and it is costing Auburn 2.5 million.

Ellis's contract- which called for USM to pay him outright, regardless of whether he'd been fired and then found comparable employment- is the single biggest piece of evidence for something I've been saying since 2011: the main reason we're 4-32 and looking at our former peers through metaphorical plate glass is the incompetence of our hired leaders.

You can tell me that IHL hates us, that UAB killed our recruiting, etc., but you can't describe that contract as anything but a self-inflicted $2,500,000 wound, courtesy of Jeff Hammond and the people attempting to supervise him at the time. It would not surprise me at all if some of that $2,500,000 were to be discovered in a Hammond bank account.

I suggested one possibility (our AD got a kick back).

Beyond that, I would say that the "hiring EJ" trend has probably peaked.

RE: Ellis johnson
After what he did to/at USM and then to/at Auburn I would be shocked if he got a job at a P5 school. I could see a G5 school who was desperate for a last ditch effort thinking they could get him cheap for a few years but I don't see how/why anyone in D1 would hire him at this point

Andre.. you forget that ELL12 was Miss Martha's last hire.. not JH's. Your point is still valid about certain incompetents in the leadership role, but you're pointing your finger at the wrong leader in this case.
