UTEP fans: win over Harlem Globetrotters in 2003.
http://www.utepathletics.com/sports/m-ba...03aaa.html

Was reading up on the Globetrotters while I was sitting in the shitter earlier. Apparently, the Globetrotters played an 8 game series with D1 colleges and UTEP was the only school to defeat them.

Anyone have any more info on this tour? Specifically, what was the Globetrotters team like? They beat Michigan State and Syracuse during that tour.

When did you all play them? How does this work, anyway? I realize it's an exhibition game, but as the Globetrotters are professional players, I didn't think it would be allowed.

They had a travel team that was real players not the show off team . Mostly made up of players that was not drafted

I don't remember which year, but I know we played and beat them at least once in the Felton era.

So the teams that played the college tours weren't the same as the teams that do the trick shots against the Generals? I know they have an annual draft where they take like Johnny Manziel, Lionel Messi type players, but there are also D2 and NAIA guys who get drafted and actually join the team.

That is correct. I think the year WKU beat the was the only college team do beat them. That was the year WKU was 28-3 I think

That would have been this team:

28-4 if you account for the loss in the NCAA Tourney. That was a stacked team.

Best exhibition game ever played in the Don Haskins Center! Sometimes they play old UTEP sports games on TV locally, I wish they would replay this one!

They had a LONG winning streak coming into El Paso. Great game. It was not an expected W.
