Championship Host Site
So apparently CUSA is using computer poll to determine host site....which would go against their own rules that they have posted on their own website. According to tiebreaker rule #3 the team who is ranked the highest in the MOST RECENT CFP poll will be the host team[Image: 2014-tie-breakers.pdf]

I'm still pretty sure #4 will give it to Marshall. Don't see why everyone is so worried.

I think the assumption is that neither team will be ranked in the CFP and therefore tie break will move on to Rule #4. Not like it matters. Marshall we be hosting.

That would work if the rule wasn't in place to use the most recent set of rankings.

RE: Championship Host Site
I think our complaint is why are they dragging the announcement out? The rule clearly states the most recent.....just make the announcement and be done with it

RE: Championship Host Site
I don't know how far Marshall will drop with the loss, but La. Tech was getting votes in the USA Today Poll and only 10 schools outside the top 25 were getting votes in the AP. I would not say it's a lock that Marshall will be ranked ahead of La Tech when the smoke clears tomorrow.

Honestly the language has some ambiguity. What does "most recent" mean? If most recent is at completion of games played it would be last weeks poll. If most recent means, most recent from the date of the championship game then it would be the next poll released.

But like I and another poster said, it doesn't matter. Marshall will host, there is no way Marshall drops enough and Tech rises enough for it to be in Ruston.

As well as Tech is playing and as bad as we are playing, it's Tech's title to lose. We suck right now.

The MWC has a caveat to use the latest ranking only if the ranked team wins the last week. If #3 is being bypassed, it would make sense that C-USA has the same rule.

We aren't in the MWC, if CUSA has that rule, state it in your rules!!!!!

RE: Championship Host Site
I think my problem is that for the second year in a row, the conference has had to throw its rules in the garbage and make it up as it goes. Last year it was BCS ranking, mane by the formula Marshall had a score, but instead the league brings in Jerry Palm to arbitrarily make up a formula that weighed the computer polls 5 times more than the BCS formula and just making it up as they went. Here, there is a procedure in place, and again, it feels like they are just making it up.

This is supposed to be a major college football conference, not the local Little League. Get rules in place that you can and will follow.
