I sure hope he makes a good coach for Troy but he sure had a poor looking offense the last half of UK's season.

They were much improved this year over last year. And they are very young as well.

When you put up 40 points against Louisville and still lose, there's other issues at hand

14 of those points were defense TDs.

UK was held to FG's a lot in the redzone. Neal could be a very good hire, but I don't know if he has proven much based of this year's UK offense.

alot of UK fans are happy he's gone, but thats pretty much SOP for any coach that leaves a p5 school for a g5. time will tell, I think its one of the better hires Troy could have made

If Clark leaves UAB I though he would be a great hire. Too much uncertainty there to wait it out though. Like I said, Neal could be a homerun. I saw lil' Stoops interfering an awful lot with his assistants during games this year. Neal is probably happy to leave. Best of luck to Troy.

We are also talking about Kentucky... And young Kentucky at that.

He had a top 15 offense at Texas tech for 3 years

And a top 3 offense at Troy.

So looks like we are paying him 700k. Which I believe makes him tied for 2nd most in the sbc.

Makes sense, you weren't going to get anyone decent to come to Troy for less then that number. But Brown sure sounds like a insider hire.

RE: New Troy coach is......
I would say he was the hire I was wanting the most out of most of the names mentioned. The Ole Miss OC sounded pretty good too, but something about him just doesn't tell me he'd be a good head coach.
A few things that I like about Neal Brown:

*Neal Brown can be a fiery guy sometimes and he's young and energetic.

*He's already familiar with the high schools around the area and knows the coaches.

*He's essentially bringing in the same offense Troy has been running, so I really don't expect much of a drop off in offensive production because of the learning curve... if anything, he's a much better play caller than our current OC. When Neal Brown was OC at Troy, we actually utilized trick plays and had a well-schemed Wildcat formation.

*He knows what kind of offensive schemes are needed to win games. As an OC, he has 2 years in the Sun Belt, 3 years in the Big XII, and 2 years in the SEC. All of which he had quite a bit of success.

I just hope he can hire a good DC. Lord knows we need a good DC. That will make all the difference for Troy.

Seems to be a good hire. I hope he can handle following a legend. Of course Blakeny fell off some. How many years since you had someone new leading your football team?

They are but hurt is all. To be expected especially after losing to your rival.

They went from 13ppg before Brown got there to 28ppg. They may miss him more than they think.
