I disagree. They hit 3's, and we hit a cold spell from there.

Again, we spotted them a lead. We closed it, and proved we could do it.

They had a good hot shooting streak.

On to the next game.

They handled the pressure a lot better and hit the big shots when they counted. Give credit where credit is due. Miners came out lethargic and played catch up all night. Too many turnovers and missed free throws.

We definitely need to clean up the turnovers. That was excessive.

Hunter played great as usual. But, he had two mistakes that cost us tonight. One was the one that everyone is talking about. The other one that I think a lot of people missed was the missed lob we had with about 5 minutes left. Teicher was yelling about
Cooper throwing a soft bounce to Hunter, but that was supposed to be a lob and it didn't look like Vince was ready for it. It was the play where we screen the two top players of the zone, go down the middle and lob it. And, again, Vince wasn't ready for it.

I know there are others, but those two stuck out to me.

My problem is with Washburn shooting all those shots hoping to get hot which we know doesn't happen. Washburn IMO is a defensive guy and yes once in a blue moon does a decent job of shooting but not very often. Cooper in the game against Xavier was red hot and today I think he only shot one 3 and missed. That wasn't enough for him to have stopped. Floyd's problem is that he's adamant about taking it down low when those shots weren't going in anyway. Basketball is like football when they stop the rushers you have to try the pass. Same way with BB if those shots under the basket try something different, like shooting them from the lane.

Coach gave this game away. Plus he needs to settle down his players especially Vince and Omega, they're like runaway trains or loose cannons.

Oh well, they probably feel worst than I do and they deserve it. I'm P'sed.

Pretty painful loss, because UTEP beat themselves. Just beat Colorado state and sweep NMSU please

Totally disagree. UTEP was shooting poorly from the perimeter (Cooper was actually 0-4 from 3). We also weren't finishing at the rim, but with all their bigs in foul trouble, I think they needed to attack them more down the stretch. Should've fouled their big guy, instead of sending their good free throw shooters to the line. Intense game, but UTEP made too many unforced errors. No big deal. Lost to a likely tournament team on a neutral court, this shouldn't hurt our RPI too much. Can't expect us to go undefeated. Need to regroup. A win on the road against an undefeated CSU team will make up for it. I think they will get it.

Okay, and it's totally your right to disagree. My concern is that we recruited this new kids because of their shooting, right? Then why were we forcing ourselves underneath and not opening any lanes by using the kids Floyd raved about after we snatched them. Andrews was let loose by their coach because of his shooting prowess and it hurt us. We have some good shooters and Washburn isn't one of them. If you follow UTEP basketball you know I'm right, Wash is a mediocre to terrible shooter. Don't look at how many points he makes in a game, look at his shooting percentage to see how good a shooter is. I could easily take 20 shots and make five and that wouldn't make me a good shooter, it would just make me someone who loves to shoot.

Interesting comments on sports radio about this. Seems a few agree that we need shooters. Once they doubled down on Hunter, scoring got difficult.
