We are Marshall!
I really want to wish The Heard Nation the best from here on out. They represent Conference USA our conference. I think we all need to get behind them if their able to win the conference. I say if because they still have two conference games to play against WKU and whoever they play in the conference championship game. But should they win those games let's put on our green and cheer those guys on. And b itch like Hell if the playoff committee finds away to screw them out of an access bowl. I'm pissed about Boise being ranked ahead of Marshall right now. It takes a lot for any team to be undefeated and there is NO WAY a team who lost by 21 and 14 points to a pair of teams who are a combined 18-6 combined should get in over and undefeated team! We are Marshall

Thanks Madeagle. You are a first class poster. If we do win out, I hope we represent CUSA well in whatever bowl we end up in.

I like how you omit that one of those teams was Ole Miss, a team that was recently in the national title hunt and the only team to beat Alabama this season.

and got beat 30-0 by an unranked team last week. I like how you omitted that....

That makes no sense KT. You seem to be hanging your arguement on 'just scheduling' a P5 makes you the better team. They lost that game; so let's remove it as if it never happened.

How then do you now explain the 14 point loss to the AFA? and rank them above an unbeaten Marshall.

Is that the same Air Force that lost to 4-7 Wyoming? Interesting.

If not for two late, meaningless TDs, Boise would have lost to AF by four touchdowns. Did you forget that part?

RE: We are Marshall!
Very simple: despite the AF loss, the committee respects Boise for at least going up against Ole Miss more than they respect Marshall choosing to go up against nobody.

Why is that hard to understand?

I can understand the loss to Ole Miss, but there's no justifying the Air Force loss.

In a nutshell, Marshall hasn't lost to any conference foes. Both CSU and BSU you have. There's your basic, most simplistic, barometer.

At this point the best thing for the Confrence is Marshall to get the access bowl slot. That should be CUSA's goal every year, 1-2 teams in the top 25 and winning the access bowl slot.

and.....because you get beat badly by someone much better than you, and that team gets beaten 30-0 by an unranked team, you shouldn't be ranked above a team that for the most part has slaughtered everyone it has played. What is so hard to understand about that?

The rankings should be based on how well you play not by who you got beat by. Maybe if Marshall scheduled all top 10 teams and lost to them all, they could then get into the Access Bowl. Since according to K Time the most important factor is who beat you.

RE: We are Marshall!
Firstly, let me just say that I agree with the sentiment that going undefeated in any conference is an extremely difficult feat to accomplish, especially in this day and age.

And I do think an undefeated team should rank higher than one that is 9-2 or 8-3, etc. But that isn't the reality because we are still working within a BCS style system. While the only real way to hold a playoff is having each conference champion represented, we know that a fair shake is not coming anytime soon. The press even gave us the moniker "G5", to help us remember our second class status.

The painful reality of the situation is that Boise has enjoyed success against teams with better records than Marshall has. It isn't fair, and it isn't a just way to run things. But there you have it. Take it from me, Boise fans are keenly aware of the unfairness of the system. I empathize with your frustration.

Whatever happens, I really hope this situation helps to create a real division 1-A playoff, instead of this artificial one.

Well said BF. In truth, all of us second class/back of the bus type of schools are in the same boat. We know it, they know it, and the media knows it. The media have billions already spent on a narrative and what needs to happen to ensure their status quo. The rest of us will always have an uphill battle. It's just the way the money flows and we acknowledge that. Doesn't mean we have to go quietly though, either conference/team. GL Broncos and all the MWC teams as well as CUSA, we're all going to need all we can get.

That "unranked" team is Arkansas who is now ranked.

You're trying, desperately, to compare apples to oranges. Ole Miss getting killed by Arkansas has nothing to do with Marshall killing MAC and CUSA opponents. An unranked Arkansas is not comparable to an unranked Miami OH.

If Marshall had played Arkansas it would have instantly been the biggest game on their schedule and if they won, would have been the quality win that they are SORELY lacking right now.

Boise stepped up and went on the road to play Ole Miss. And save for an awful 4th quarter they played right with them. They shouldn't be penalized for that just because Marshall's AD only apparently had the numbers of MAC schools available to call for scheduling.

.
I don't think it is as simple as Marshall's AD calling up P5 teams and seeing if they want to play sometime. Most P5 programs will not come to the G5's field to play without some kind of 2 for one deal or refuse to play at all.
As noted Marshall was to play Louisville this season but that fell through for reasons Marshall fans have already mentioned.
